Builders - Not Repairing

Same issue here. Playing on the latest update and my buildings are still not being repaired despite having all the resources and laborers and builders in the world. It’s nearly a game breaking experience at this point that needs to be corrected asap. Needs to be top of the priority list.

Builders automatically seek out repair tasks when a building reaches 33%, so at 38% everything is fine.

If they’re still not doing it at under 33%, then that is a bug.

For me they are repairing fine. Only if i have pending constructions with no resources, for exemple planks, they prioritize build over repairs. So until now it’s fixed, at least for me. If i notice something more i will tell. Thank You.

No repairs for me. My whole city is starting to fall apart. Maybe it’s caused by me because I can barely keep up with planks (that’s the bottle neck right now, followed by raw wood which is still a problem as I destroyed all forests and regrow can’t compensate :smiley: ) and I always build something. What confuses me is that I had times with no building tasks at all and some planks in storage. Still no repairs.

I think it may be bugged. If not, it needs overhaul. Players just don’t understand how it works and costs are too high if you ask me. Since 0.7.5 you only see the “health bar” when it’s more or less too late. And you can’t prioritize so my theater will be destroyed resulting in a loss of about 200 villagers because attractivity will go down, then I won’t have enough builders, no army and things go downhill pretty fast. :smiley: As traders never or rarely sell planks this contributes to the problem. Traders with more planks may be a possible solution but I hardly suggest reworking this feature. It slows down late game which is good but it’s frustrating, confusing and uncontrolable the way it works now. Just imagine you figure out what to do (this thread shows only few players will) and you have a big wall queued up. Since you can’t mass-prioritize or mass-stop building of walls right now, what will you do? Right, delete all building tasks (frustrating) or click stop building one by one (even more frustrating). This can not be the right way to implement this feature.

My city with population of over 300, with 30 builders and 70 laborers. I have only seen maybe 10% of buildings being rapired. I have plenty of materials to build and repair at the same time. The only time i have seen a building being repaired is when I placed something to be constructed near the reapired building. For some reason distance over 50 squares is far to great for the builder or laborer co carry any resources. I guess they prioritize building new things and it also somehow forces them to deliver materials to nearby building. Otherwise the person carrying the materials on the half-way decides that he needs some candles for his house, he drops the materials and when the next guy comes around he picks them up and puts them back into storage.

Yep. Same issue here. No one is repairing my theater eventhough i got a lot of planks. Maybe the builder is simply not enough? Im at 30 builder atm. 300 population.

Btw, I really dig this game. Spent a lot of hours in it. Hope the dev keep working on this.

Are we sure we got the building repairs patched?

How many builders do you have assigned? Also seems planks are really low, which a lot of those may need to be repaired.

Unless this happens right when you load an old save.

Currently, 10 biulders and 20 Labourers. Planks are “low” but I haven’t run out in years.

Not saying the repair stuff doesn’t need tuning, but it does seem like your town is really low on materials for repairs.

I agree its low… but do they not use what I have? Is there a cut off where they don’t use below a certain amount? Becuase I sat an watch for 2 years and I never ran out. (literally all i did other than slaughter a few cows lol) Many of those house just needed planks.

And maybe you’re right and it is mostly on the way I was running the town. BUT it hasn’t happened to me before, and if I read up over recent post, it doesn’t look like Im the only one :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Hello I have the same problem.

Repairs are extremely slow once the city grows a bit and the materials are not nearby.

I saw 5 builders go to a tower to fix it. before the first builders arrived all that was needed was a plank of wood and a gold ingot.

After the passage of the 5 builders (1 month in games) 1 wooden planks were still missing

So @Zantai I backed up to an earlier save, built a TON of saw shops, and made sure I had about 70 laborer/builders combined. 2 years into this trial by boards were still hovering low like you mentioned. So I started following workers.

In the 2 screen shots below you will see a worker about to go into a tower for Upkeep and the tower is at 33% when he exits in the next screenshot the tower is still at 33% (I did reload the Building UI incase it didn’t do it in real time).

Based on this, the villagers are preforming upkeep, it is just not having affect on the buildings.


For poops and giggles, I saved and reloaded as well, so see if that had any effect on it, tower was still at 33%

Was the builder doing maintenance or did they just deliver materials for repair?

He said “Handling Upkeep”

and nothing was added to storage or left on the ground

Want to join here, as this is causing a headache.
So my growing town is slowly getting repaired but the rate is just not enough to keep healthy growth rate and healthy repair rate.

I stopped all new assignments, increased the speed to 3 and was observing the workers trying to do the
‘handling upkeep’ tasks

At the time of writing this here are the stats

Labourers 36. Builders 12/27
Theater at 22%
Cost: 90 planks (214 storage), 80 clay (272 storage)

Waited a bit and labourers 37, builders 11/27
Health:20% -
Cost: 90 planks / 82 - 3 ingots, they brought something into the building and now it is 89planks,83 clay ,0 ingots

Health: 19%
Cost: 89 planks/ 84 clay / 1 ingot

This does not seem right, it decays faster than the poor fellows carrying the stuff which is never enough.

Let’s name it: This feature is broken and should be removed or reworked ASAP.

I ran into a situation where my whole city has to be repaired. It’s not only that an army of builders and enough resources does not help, it seems even if they try to repair they can’t keep up or succeed at all.

Let me describe one very strange situation:

  • First of all: No active constructions! All resources available. 40 available builders/10 workers
  • Theater does not show any repair bar at all (I think everything is ok)
  • Theater shows the 33% bar (ok, serious problem now, but I think they start fixing it)
  • Health goes down to 20% and turns red, now I’m concerned
  • Tooltip says only 1 clay is needed
  • Builder brings 1 clay
  • Tooltip says it needs repair (without material needed) → so they should repair now?
  • Tooltip says 1 gold is needed
  • Builder brings 1 gold
  • Tooltip says it has to be repaired (without resources) again
  • And so on…
  • While this is happening, building loses more and more health until it’s finally abandoned

This is happening with all buildings I observed for a long time.

So that’s just broken.

What also is frustrating that the health bar shows up when it’s too late.

So right now I can’t play anymore because although I have everything needed it’s a spiral to hell for my settlement. Abandoned, important buildings means a big loss of attractiveness resulting in a even more dangerous loss of dozens of villagers.

Furthermore: Don’t want to speak for others but looking at Reddit it seems the bug with higher cost than building new is still within 0.7.5e.
