When a building is condemned, it says select to repair or destroy, yet it doesn’t give you a way to do either.
We know. Something the devs need to look at.
I think that goes to show that eventually that will be the options we will have… but alas, it isn’t functional yet.
Ah my poor poor town… so many condemned buildings. hah! I have a feeling I’m gonna have MANY towns from all the restarting I’ll be doing.
Had the same issue, by selecting the clear option I could delete the building, no further interaction possible. Wonder what happens with my cows in my condemned barn after I clear it, will post an update.
Edit: I demolished my barn, rebuild it on the same spot and livestock was still in that same barn. Before finishing the build the livestock was just roaming around.
Yesterday my theater got condemned also, but it didnt have any button though. I just waited and soon after i got repaired.
IMO, builders should be made into their own job class just like miners, farmers… ect… Then have them focus on just building/repairing structures. Or, have a new class of worker, Handyman maybe? They would go around doing upkeep on existing structures. Also, it seems to me that structures deteriorate much to fast. My own house is almost 100 years old and is no where near being condemned, so please, slow the termites down!
Have you fixed any plater/drywall in the last 100 years? Doors, windows? how about siding, or insulation? Paint? new lights? carpet? flooring? appliances?
There are MANY things that go into the daily upkeep on a house… I suppose we could push for them to include every little things… OR maybe we could just simplify it to a couple of boards and stones every few years
The current workaround:
1)Select the building, press Delete on your keyboard, complete the delete prompt.
OR
- Use the Clear tool (hotkey C) and drag a box under this condemned building. Hit Clear. This works like clicking Delete in the Building UI.
I hear what your saying, but should a structure be condemned as fast as they are in game? Only 25 yrs into this city, and so many being put down as condemned? Seems a bit fast to me. That’s why I was suggesting workers be made into a permanent class like farmers. I’ve watched the amount of builders going up and down as the game decides how many it needs at any given time. Is this shifting between laborers and builders slowing down/interfering with repairs/upkeep? I’m not against upkeep, or repairs to structures, I’m just throwing my thoughts on a possible fix, but, I’ll admit I’m not a code writer. There may be coding reasons for doing it the way it is now, but anyway, isn’t that what we’re supposed to do in early access games? Throw ideas out there to see if they develop into anything?
What is going on with so many buildings being condemned? I have had none condemned, after 50+ years and 500 population…two homesteads were abandoned after I moved them to a less desireable location, but once I raised their desireability they were quickly reactivated. !!?
If you keep the builders set high enough (I am at 750 pop I have 40 builder spots and anywhere from 20 to 50 free labourers [which is well below the white]) you will rarely see repairs needed, and I haven’t seen anything condemned (except that one stinking barn I struggle with) I close to 100 years.
As long as you allow the game the flexibility it needs to address the issue, the issue gets addressed and there isn’t an issue.
no reason to delete them if you have enough supplies and workers. They will be fixed after being
condemned but you have to make sure you do not have builders doing lots of priority stuff if you do
then the buildings never get fixed. Also if a building was condemned due to lack of repair to begin
with then that means you didn’t have enough builders/supplies and/or too many priority things going
on to begin with.
IMHO it is better to only use priority on something that truly needs it. (which is rare)
I have 40 builders set and yet the number never goes above ten and stays around 4. I understand this is a bug, I just wonder if there’s a way around it known.
I often max with builders, seeing 40, sometimes they even figure out a way to slip in an extra with 41.
I know there is a bug with the walls, are people seeing bugs in other areas?
Mostly walls for me, but even when other stuff needs to be built my number of builders doesn’t rise to what I have it set for. The building gets done, albeit slowly by less guys. The 75+ laborers swoop in and clear everything out, then the builders come strolling up, scratch their chins, squint at the sun, slap their knees, and say By Jove, it’s quitting time! Talk about frustrating.
Yeah, I suppose I only addressed the deleting part of the prompt and not the repair. Thank you for adding this.
I know it’s not to everyone’s taste, but I add in pubs for the benefit of passive population control so they at least make themselves useful after quitting.
