Sorry this is brief but I’m writing this on my phone. Of course I own grim dawn on steam but I am looking to not use steam anymore as I would like to actually own my games. In the “buy now” section of the website is that where I can buy the game straight from crate entertainment? Is that possible now? Because I would love to own this game without using steam or any other steam-like services. Let me know,
So if I bought grim dawn from GoG, does GoG ever have the right to take grim dawn away from me, like on steam? Or if I buy it from GoG do I own grim dawn and no one can take it away?
Exactly. You can download the game and it’s yours for life. There’s no other software required to run the game and there’s no online or offline security checks when you run the installer off your hard drive, and there’s no requirement to even be online when you install.
Okay so i’ve just purchased everything on GoG, here is an image of the drm-free offline downloads for grim dawn on GoG’s website alongside the folder i downloaded all of the files into. I marked the files with a 1,2,3,4 that I think I am supposed to install (in that order), and I just ignore the other patches that I did not put a number by (assuming because they are old)? And then when crate releases a new patch or expansion then I just run that new .exe when it becomes available for download?
I don’t think the order really matters (other than 1) being first…), I believe I used 1,3,2,4, but yours should work just as well.
You do not need all the patch* files, as you downloaded the latest version. Had you downloaded an earlier version (i.e. bought GD sooner), those patches would have upgraded the old versions to the next higher ones, without you needing to download a full installer again.
