Bylina - A Slavic themed ARPG

Steam:

Premise:
Falconet dreams of following in the footsteps of his father, a fabled bogatyr - but during what seems like a simple task, he finds himself in the dark and mysterious Far Far Kingdom where… he dies. To his surprise, the young hero is revived by a mysterious spirit with whom he must now share his body. Falconet faces three daunting tasks: reclaim control over his soul, uncover an ancient mystery surrounding his new companion, and save the world from imminent doom.

My Thoughts:
Seems interesting. It’s an isometric ARPG based in Slavic folklore which is pretty rare. The only other isometric Slavic ARPG that I can recommend is Svarog’s Dream. Hopefully, this one is good as well.

Game is out!

It’s on my wishlist, has anyone tried it yet?

The reviews give me rhe impression that it needs more time in the oven.

I get that impression for quite a few Slavic games I’ve wishlisted! ^^
Creativity in these games is generally great and the visuals do stand out from the crowd.
But there’s often a lack of polish (no pun intended^^) which turns me off. Here’s an example:

Marko: Beyond Brave (Steam Platformer)

This is a beautiful hand-drawn platformer in which you fight enemies inspired by Slavic Mythology.
Boss animations remind me of these old soviet cartoons directed by the Atamanov brothers.
For the anecdote, “The Golden Antelope” -one of their most memorable cartoon- aired in my country when I was a kid. It had a wonderful French dub.

To cut it short, Marko: Beyond Brave has mixed reviews on Steam because dev didn’t patch his game enough. They’re still a few issues. Mostly collision bugs and key rebindings.

note: for those who like old school animation, I recommend these from the Atamanov Brothers:
The Scarlet Flower (1952) / The Golden Antelope (1954) / The Frog Princess (1954) / The Snow Queen (1957)
