Normally play melee or ranged so giving it a whirl with a summoner/ caster hybrid Cabalist.
I’m going to us Bloody Pox as my caster damage along with Doom Bolt to dish the pain from afar. Invest in Raise skeletons as a meat shield and either Hellhound or Blight fiend as an additional damage dealer. so my questio is which would be more effective?
Also any oher possible advice on the build would be much appriciated as I’ve NEVER played either summoner or caster!

Raise Skeletons are horrible for meat shield. They do not have enough hp to meat shield well enough. Early game they erase everything, but unless you go basically full pet dmg, they won’t do much late game.
It is possible to play a hybrid character like you’re describing, but it will fall short of playing a summoner or caster, unless you’re looking at something like DaShiv’s “night king” build, but that “hybrid” is still like 75/25 pet dmg vs your own.
Bloody Pox in general is an awful caster skill in terms of providing damage. Using Wasting’s OA debuff is one thing, but it’ll never do sufficient damage against enemies. Cabalists tend to emphasize on both Hellhound and Blight Fiend: Hellhound because its aura Hellfire is really good, and likewise for Blight Fiend’s Rotting Fumes.
I attempted to make a hybrid Cabalist using the Witching Hour: Doom Bolt to victory! but I quickly noticed that simply playing a passive Summoner with Witching Hour is just a lot better, no questions asked. Considering how well Voidwhisper rings synergizes with both caster play and buffing pets, it’s likely that it’s the best bet for a hybrid build to even have a chance to work. The brief testing I did with it, though, suggested that even this was not nearly enough.
Yeah even at this easrly stage (lvl 11!) I’m getting the impression that Bloody Pox just ain’t going to cut the cheese with dmg long term… Dreeg’s or pure summoner it may be!!
Bloody pox is one of the fastest leveling skills in grim dawn. Get fevered rage, max bloody pox and all transmuters and rush possession. It took me less than three hours to beat vanilla.
