Can I translate some Builds from English to Korean?

Recently I got to know Korean Grim Dawn Forum in Korean Portal site called Naver. I would like to post some builds for Korean users. It is such a waste to not to let them know about those awesome builds in here!

Normally I would pm the original author but the system said I need to post 3 or greater… thus I would ask in here… is it okay? I won’t do plagerism, just posting the original link and translating in Korean. Maybe after translating, my thought about this build… possibly.

My first translating build is about…

Trickster, a.k.a Storm Zerker.

I hope The Pale Gamer see this post and reply to my first reply.

If I have time, I am thinking about other build too.

Number of Korean users are minor, however those who play this game, love it. Anyway I am waiting for reply and suggestions.

p.s.akward to be newbie in this forum, I cannot post links.

You can post two more 10 character posts and get your PM privileges.

I think it would be fine for you to translate builds, but you should PM the authors and get permissions as they might not visit this thread.

Thanks. I will keep that in mind

Hm. Is it bad to translate without permission? It is just a courtesy anyway, chances that you’re going to be rejected are absurdly low, chances that author will know about it are low as well.

Also, do Korean gamers generally understand english, or you’re a rare case?

Chances of rejection are very low, and chances of them finding out about it is low too, but since he posted here, the chances increased quite a bit for the later.

Most of them fear of speaking English in my experience… and yeah. I am sort of those “rare case” dudes who can understand English.

(not bragging, though. it is pain to see Koreans being paranoid about speaking English.)

I don’t play Grim Dawn in Korean Patch, vanilla version as English

Now I really curious…
Why Koreans are afraid of speaking english? Is it just english or other languages too?

Translate it and link the original guide. That means it’s not your build and you help the others.

Greetings

Other language too… :stuck_out_tongue:

even though I already got permission, but thanks.

But why??? You dont need to answer if you dont want to. Cultural differences is something i really like

I’m kind of leaning toward maybe his use of the word “fear” was due to the language barrier. (Marjanes English is pretty good tho but you can tell it isn’t a first language).

Perhaps he meant “dislike” or “hesitant” or a similar word. “Fear” was probably stronger than what the intention was and not a good match for someone comfortable with the tongue.

Could be just a nationalistic streak in the country or perhaps the people he knows simply don’t care to learn another language.

I watched an old episode of one of Anthony Bourdains shows where he went to South Korea and wandered around and he managed to find more than a few people who could speak English passably. Which isn’t surprising really, given the US involvement in the area.

Alot of US military get stationed there and even live there with their families for considerable lengths of time. My wife’s sister and her kids lived there for a number of years because her husband was stationed there.

True. Even though I have education background as studying abroad, my English still need to improve. maybe fear is not correct term. but unfamiliar might be correct term. Anyway, you are very knowledgable about South Korea. Yet comparing to old times, there are more people who can speak English though. At least they try to help you, not running away or being a jerk like old times. Anyway, thank you for your reply.

Sorry about the short reply. They don’t hate other language. But they are not comfortable with different culture yet. I have seen some Koreans try to face cultural differences but does not know how to deal with it. S.Koreans seems rude, but they are also human-being and can be good hearted fellas too.

Thank you for your reply. One of my objectives when i can aford it is to visit Asia. S.korea, Japan and índia have very interesting culture
