Can someone explain to me how "Keep in stock on" works in the Trading Center?

I have set a value of 80 for an item in the Transfer Items to and from Trading Post window.
But it seems to have no effect.
I am either expecting to see either

  • all items above 80 to be transferred from the town to the trading post or
  • have 80 items max at all times at the trading post and the rest remaining in town.

Maybe there is an option c?

The latter is correct. Are you sure you set 80?

TY for clarifying
Yep, I did have it set to 80 and had it run for a while to observe the behaviour but nothing happened, as if the option was off.
I started a new game let me give it another go see what happens.
TY again!

IMO this mechanics should be changed, it keeps exactly the amount of resources instead of minimum, so if you “Buy and Stack” to resell it - it gets removed instantly (even on pause).

Buy and stack is actually something I understand and don’t mind it at all, on the contrary. I find it useful if I just want to keep the items within the same tradepost to re-sell it later that way I don’t need to bother the labourers moving things to a warehouse and then back to the tradepost.

I just can’t understand how the “Keep in Stock” feature actually works:

First, does “Stock” refer to the “Town Storage” or the trade’s post “Your Inventory”.
No matter what the answer is, if you test it, let’s say set a value of 20 for candles, only once you confirm and only once the goods will be moved. All above 20.

After that it will behave as usual: the town’s decrease/increase in items will be shown in “Town Storage” but nothing gets transferred to “Your Inventory” on the tradepost.

Or the other way around for that matter. Let’s say our value is still 20, nothing happens to ensure that the tradepost always has a stock of 20 candles.

Super confused.

I didn’t encounter any issue with it, workers are bringing the cargo to the Trade Post, up to the set level. If you sell it, they automatically restock it.

It is confusing for many people, judging by posts. People are asking to change this feature, for eg. better mechanics would be “stock Trading Post when above certain level in Storages” - it would be more useful (selling extra cargo).

If I understand correctly,

  1. You set the amount on the input box on the trading post side (to the right)
  2. You enable Keep in Stock
  3. Confirm

Is this how it should work?

Thanks by the way

Yeah, exactly like that. Laborers will now keep this Linen Clothes at 200 units whenever you sell it.

Also, like I said before, If you “Buy and Stock”, the excess units will be transported outside of Trading Post (instantly).

Got it! I does work like that. Phew, finally  TY so much
I’d prefer to set a minimum town stock and the surplus be sent to the trade post though.

the “excess units”!, ok I understand what you meant now

You are not the only one
