Can you join the chosen in normal, spec to necromancer, and then stay with the chosen in ultimate?

yes,
only thing that matters is you dont’ switch again inbewteen
if you’re already Kymon when necro class, you have friendly status, which allows to rejoin on other difficulty
(and you lose that +rep when switching to vigil, hence why can’t rejoin if alternate choice between)

I cleared all the way to Darkvale Gate as a pure Inquisitor, then farmed 5 hoods from Ravok, and then finally specced into Necromancy. I did it in the Chosen base after turning in the quests and getting respected. For RP purposes.

The hood itself seems to have a vitality bias, which is a bit disappointing. Since the item comes with elemental damage, I was expecting at least some elemental bias. Guess I’ll settle for defensive stats on it.

EDIT: Just got a hood of Arcane Balance, so maybe I was wrong about the bias.

why?/you don’t need that/that far
all you need is to reach Homestead with the Ulgrim forth and back, clear amalgamation quest, select Kymon when presented at teh stairs, then you can spec necro on the spot
*if you have a merit it’s even faster since you can just portal straight to ulgrim in deadman’s, to homestead, (back to ulgrim) and the access teh Amalgamation quest portal to the fields and kill it, return and then access Ulgrim and the allies
**if one doesn’t care about Ulgrim in Burrwitch outskirts or Reddan quest in act 2 and his shop in Homestead you can do the above portal faction select way earlier/before even full clearing act 1
