Can't connect at all

I want to play Fangs with a friend. We both bought the game on GoG and we have the latest version (1.3.0.1) after manually installing the hotfix. I’m on Win 10, he’s on Win 11.

Neither of us can join the other’s game. We enter the password, the game goes to the loading screen and after about 20-30 seconds we see “unable to connect” or something like that. If we try to join any game from the ingame browser, we’re both greeted with “wrong game version” window instantly (very odd). We don’t even get to the loading screen.

I tried everything on my end: port forwarding on my router, enabling and disabling UPnP (in game as well), adding exceptions for Grim Dawn and GoG Galaxy in Windows Defender and even disabling it completely, enabling/disabling Mullvad VPN. No dice. Please help us out, we don’t know what to do.

Bump. Anyone?

It’s a safer bet to re-install whole game with expansions than use any patches. Try that.

This. The GOG patch installers (which are not built by Crate btw) are basically useless. I used to play the manual GOG version of the game and the only reliable way to install a patch was to do a full reinstall.

same , I noticed that gog game client last patch was to 1.3 only while my friend on steam has newer version 1.3.3 and even when challenged , there’s no updates available. Ill try reinstalling

Well, the GOG timeline for hotfixes has been slower. But if there is now a 1.3.0.1 on GOG, as OP says, that implies that at least some hotfix has been released there.

But whatever the case, their patch installers just don’t update the game properly.

I tried reinstalling just now , but it didnt help , gog says no updates available , last patch note is 1.3.0.0
server list looks like there’s people playing only base version and previous dlc. there’s not a single game that shows fangs dlc . so if I try to join any, of course, it says my version is wrong and I cant connect. I have all 3 loyalists packs too, maybe that conflicts with something ?
Before Fangs dlc, I was playing daily with my buddy from Steam :frowning:

I hope the devs notice us and push for the fix

Zantai said that GOG will go direct to 1.3.0.4 when they push it to Steam and GOG.

Thank you, came in to write the same , some good news .

OP here. We only installed the 1.3.0.1 hotfix because 1.3.0.0 didn’t work. We managed to finish the whole campaign + expansions a few years ago. We’ve both changed hardware and ISPs since then, though.

gog is on 3.04, steam on 3.0.5 now . I give up, Ill play solo I guess
Also, for the brief moment while versions were the same, I still couldn’t connect to my friend or anyone else, it wouldn’t say that game version if wrong, at least I could try to join, but it was loading and then would timeout. its not internet issue, crossplay is not existing since last dlc

A LAN “emulator” such as ZeroTier might work. You need to register an account, but it’s free. I haven’t tried it yet because my co-op partner is busy.

Yeah, I have the same problem and it goes both ways. If I host, they crash, if they host I crash. Nobody wins, but every one plays alone

Still can’t connect after the updates. We almost got ZeroTier to work. I can see his LAN game (and his character preview in the upper right corner), but I can’t connect. I get an error that says “you do not have the correct database version to connect to this server”. I have no idea what that means.
