I know I don’t have the best build in the world. I’ve been waiting to complete the Markovian set. The necklace eludes me. I didn’t think 3/4 set bonus was enough to warrant changing from my current setup.
Despite having a very defensive build, I do have to regularly pop health potions in the fight. I have overcapped fire resistances already (68% over maximum) plus I take a Flamedrinker Ointment along with an Elixer of the Ancients to boost damage output and OA. But my survivability would be fine if I could just do enough damage. I simply can’t get him below 94% no matter what. The current setup focuses on Blitz. When I had all those points in Cadence, I couldn’t get him below 99%. I just can’t do enough damage to offset his health regen.
Is it just a lost cause with this build? Could I even do it if I attained the full Markovian set? Is there some key to the fight that I’m missing? I know to try avoid killing the ranged Bourban guy to keep Lokarr from spawning more clones. Other than that, I don’t see what else I can do. I think I just don’t have the DPS output that is necessary to kill him. And if I reconfigure the build to make it much more offensive, then I doubt my ability to survive since as I mentioned, I already have to pop health potions to stay alive.
The build I’m working toward is the Double Blitz Commando, but at this point I don’t know if I will ever get to try it before I burn out on the game. Markovian’s Distinction never drops and neither has the blueprint for the Korvaak’s Deception relic. And this is with a mod that boosts legendary drop rates. Coming up on 400 hours played, all with same toon.
Anway, just wondering if there are any minor tweaks I can make to my current build to be capable of defeating Lokarr, or if I just need to give up for now.
You have low OA and only 30 physical RR. That’s the issue. You don’t care about the most important stat at all. You didn’t go Assassin’s mark or anything else that could help you. Lokarr takes only 15% of all the physical damage you deal. As you reduce his resist only by 30 if you use War Cry, he still mitigates 55% of your damage. You’ll end up fighting him for hours at this point. Another issue, you have no damage absorption, so no matter how much resists you’re gonna have you’ll end up losing health all the time. Stone From devotion isn’t as great as you think. It might help in some cases, but that’s the issue - it only helps, not solves anything. Blitz build isn’t good. No one even tries to make such builds because as much as they’re fun, they don’t work at all. It’s basically a trash mob clearer build at this point. Your damage is also very low as for that - ~12k with all buffs. Blitz build isn’t good. No one even tries to make such builds because as much as they’re fun, they don’t work at all. It’s basically a trash mob clearer build at this point. Another issue, you have tanky stats, i.e. high resist values, but you neither have enough damage or block to back that up. Both, block and damage back up your defense because damage allows you to shred the enemy, and in case you don’t want to deal damage, you focus on as much block stats as possible. Before you say that you do have block, no you don’t. 80% block chance is good, okay, 2280 damage blocked is bad, only good for trash and maybe some weaker bosses. Block recovery 22 means you basically block roughly about once a second - two. Lokarr sends a barrage of skills every time he attacks, so these values are just non-existent. Block recovery should reach at least 75% with Overguard, if you want to be somehow safe. Two moves and your block is fixed, actually three: Shieldmaiden and Targo the Builder devotions and overcapped Shield Training. You also use Citadel relic, so here is where your build will work even better. Also, bear in mind that facetanking Lokarr requires much flat damage absorption (like in Stone Form or Blast Shield), because his barrages of damage will shred even a solid tank. Another idea to kill Lokarr is to get as much armor as possible (4000+ with only perma buffs), but it also might not be enough.
Lokarr isn’t anything that should be killed. That’s another point. He’s a super boss (like Mogdrogen, Ravager), so there are certain builds that can kill it. Lokarr’s stats can be found here.
I didn’t even tell you to increase it. You just can’t do that with this build. The only idea would be Stoneguard. This won’t solve any problem anyway. In your case, you should try to get as much block as possible. And stay at 3200 DA to not get crit by him (I can assure you that he can crit much, with his spam it’s deadly).
I’ve killed him with a lot less defence than you so I don’t think abs etc is your problem, what you need is dmg. You should try redoing your devotions pick up Assassins Mark and go for Oleron. A Ring of the Black Matriarch or similar would help also. Blitz hits hard but it’s DPS is poor, you’re gunna have to go back to Cadence or even Fire Strike.
The biggest problem is your damage. When someone who has been around awhile looks at your build and asks themselves ‘where the hell is their main attack’ that is generally a recipe for problems.
That said where the hell is your main attack? At first I thought I was looking at a cadence build but its only rank 5.
Also any phys build needs Assassin’s mark and enough OA / DA shred to fairly consistently apply it.
By assigning Cleansing waters on a skill you cast on regular occasion, you have less controll of when you wanna really use it since when you really need it, devotion skill might be on cooldown.
still 17/16 cadence and 13/12 deadly momentum is kinda crap
After more damage, I’m going to recommend grabbing some life steal. Replace that Battered Shell with a Seal of Blades and/or grab the first 3 nodes in Ghoul.
Might want to replace the Blazing Ruby too, there are far better component options currently and you have way more health than you need.
Edit: I agree with malawiglenn - Restless Remains is another good source of life steal if you lack the materials to make a Seal of Blades.
Assassin’s Blade. The first three nodes are completely worthless for my build. And then the devotion proc only happens on a critical attack. With the changes that have been suggested in your first link, am I REALLY gonna have enough OA to consistently CRIT Nemesis and Super bosses? If not, then I don’t see the point. I don’t need help killing trash and normal heroes or bosses. And my OA is already high enough that I am not missing very often at all. So OA increase, unless I’m missing something, is only going to make a difference f it helps me get critical hits against the toughies like Nemesis bosses or Lokarr. So am I correct to assume that, with the tweaks that have been proposed, I’m going to be critting bosses enough to regularly proc Assassin’s Mark?
The second link you gave is quite a gear overhaul that I’m not sure I’m ready to go for, especially since I’m only one piece away from getting the full Markovian set.
This is the build I was aiming for, ultimately. I just wasn’t going to bother starting to follow it verbatim until I actually got the Markovian set completed. I also still need to find the Korvaak relic. Is this build not capable of taking down Lokarr either?
As for why I was using Blitz as the main damage dealer in my current configuration…it’s because I was just trying something different after having all those points in Cadence was performing so badly against Lokarr. Switching those points to Blitz actually did seem to help.
Thanks for suggestions. What are some better options than Blazing Ruby? Also if I already have a lot more health than necessary, should I consider swapping out the Corpse Dust on my jewelry?
I copied the devotions pretty much exactly from your build link, and also made some component/gear changes. I equipped the Malmouth Resistance shoulders like you had on your Death Knight, so I could bring Cadence up to 20/16. I dropped Battered Shell for another Seal of Might. I switched Enchanted Earth for Restless Remains on my gloves. I put a Prismatic Diamond in my helm to help with damage absorption. I put a Tainted Heart on my medal for extra OA.
I was no match for Lokarr. I got him down to 89%, so I could definitely tell some difference, but it wasn’t enough to really matter. Couldn’t stay alive this time. I did give up a lot of Armor rating by dumping the Justicar Shoulderguards and Enchanted Earth. Of course I also lost Giant’s Blood from the devotion changes. But being able to stay alive doesn’t matter if I can’t do enough damage, so…guess it just ain’t happening with this build. It’s just not even close. I give up.
I will just have to farm Lokarr in multiplayer with my wife (she’s running a 2H Dawnguard Warder). Together we can kill him since she does a lot more damage and my auras/devotions help her survive.
