Hello, and happy Friday! I was wondering; for skills like Forcewave and Primal Strike, skills that aren’t default weapon attack replacements, does attack speed matter as much as casting? If it’s a spell, it benefits off of cast speed but not attack speed. Am I wrong?
No, you’re not wrong. At least Forcewave does use cast speed. Not sure about PS, though it does use a lot of energy.
Yes PS drains a lot of energy. I ended up getting energy steal from enemy spells though, and it never goes low now.
The discrimination of how these mechanics works is like that; if it require to touch an enemy with your weapon while hitting, it’s fueled by AS; if not then you can trust it’s a cast skill. So does Primal Strike it requires attack speed. I thought non-transmuted PS(cooldown) was otherway around but I’ve experienced it’s not which makes it very worse to use as it is atleast for melees(range version probably works better). Spamming is much better but ofc it requires a lot of mana regen or energy leech.
Edit: Now thinking, this example of mine is only true for melee perspecive, it can be confusing for range versions of some AA skills. I don’t play range so I always act like it doesn’t exist
Forcewave scales with cast speed, Primal Strike spam like Blade Arc with attack speed. Note: If you have multiple casts on your attacking build like Devouring Swarm, Curse of Frailty, Cocktail, etc cast speed is affecting their animation and overall high cast speed will smoothen the process. So cast speed can help even on builds, which scale with attack speed.
