One nub question. Im only 14 lvl now, but OFF doesnt affect monsters with a skull on them (for example Viloth The Corruptor). Even after nullification use. What am i doing wrong?
Nothing, OFF is a skill like that, all of it’s effects require enemy to be frozen and most bosses just can’t be frozen. Whittle them down with Fireblast, it takes time sure, but you save more time by wiping a crowd with OFF during levelling.
https://www.grimtools.com/calc/eZPq4DXN here’s me for now. Dmg and survivability are incredible. Dont know from which item or skill that huge dmg comes, but monsters just dying when see me, lol.
Upd: just finished FG addon. Kimon died in 10 sec, Korvaak was a little harder… But no problem too. lol. Great build
Here is my character just after finishing Malmouth. I made an account just to rave about how fun this build has been. My CT hits for 40k+ and I’m floored by the survivability. Thanks for posting it!
What do you think about Eternity? If you use Mark of Torment you can probably have 100% uptime of defensive skill (together with Mirror) vs bosses.
DPS loss from cast speed should be covered by more frequent Devastations.
Also, you can take off some skill points from Nullification and put them elsewhere - Mental Alacrity to recover of that lost cast speed or even Arcane Will.
btw. I replaced Ill Omen with Mark of Torment because I find Omen counter-productive vs mobs (you definitely don’t want mobs run away from you in all directions since all damage happens around your character) and Mark is better vs bosses. It works great with Mirror but there are still windows when both of them are on CD. I’m wondering if I could get 100% uptime (using one after another) with Eternity.
It’s an interesting relic for defense just as you suggest, although you can’t actually have a 100% uptime of defensive skills with it. According to my calculations you can probably do MoT -> Mirror -> MoT if you do everything right but then there’s going to be downtime. Problem is CT isn’t that strong of a skill, especially with 1H weapon. Agrivix Malice isn’t just cast speed, it’s a quite strong proc too, not even mentioning racial damage.
Taking off points from a very strong skill that gimps every elemental damage dealing enemy as well as purges DoTs and debuffs from you, just to have some meager stats? What could go wrong…
I’m not really using MoE and MoT as a usual routine in this build, MoE is a panic button and Omen acts as a permanent 25% damage reduction on everything. Ofcourse if you could do permanent MoE and MoT cycle then Omen won’t be needed but afaik it’s no longer possible.
It was possible before, but because near permanent immortality while ignoring most of other defensive stats isn’t that healthy for game balance it was dealt with. To be precise, you might be able to pull it off still, but then it would require more than just Eternity. I haven’t tried though, and don’t know if anyone did.
EDIT: actually, asked around and turns out you simply need to include Ghoul into the rotation.
Yes, proc is strong but you gain -2 s to Devastation cooldown and since it’s our “big hitter” I though it might be worth sacrificing Malice’s proc for it.
You are probably right. I though I might not need it that much if I could use Mirror and MoT more frequently. It’s 2% elemental damage reduction per level and CD reduction which would be covered by Eternity so maybe taking off 2-3 skill points wouldn’t be a big deal.
So my problem with Omen is that it makes mobs run away which is kinda a problem. Also, correct me if I’m wrong but Omen has only 1s of damage reduction but it lasts 5s. So my question is: can it spread again to the same target while effect is still on (refresh the duration)? What about 1vs1 bosses?
I feel like barely anything can harm me so I don’t really need Omen. My only concern are bosses - especially those more tanky (prolonged fights) and I don’t see how Omen can help me against those.
Thanks for answering. 100% uptime is not even needed but having 2 panic buttons almost always ready instead of one would be a big deal.
btw. does Eternity proc work on Time Dilation? AFAIK, it works on other skills from devotions, right? But reducing cooldown of a skill that reduces cooldown seems kinda busted…
It lasts 5 seconds because buffs inflict their effects every 1 second, so it keeps getting refreshed. That’s before taking spread into account. Don’t think it can spread back because otherwise skills like that would had been almost permanent upon the crowd until that crowd dwindled.
No. Cdr works on Time Dilation but CD reset does not. Moreover Time Dilation also doesn’t work on Eternity.
Ok, then all my questions are answered. All is left is to try it myself and see if I like it (which is not going to be anytime soon).
Thanks.
hello,
i started the build quite a while ago. i wanna continue now, but i am unsure if the build still works out with all the game changes that occurred meanwhile.
is it still worthwhile to pursue leveling up following this guide or am i likely to run into major show stoppers?
Hello.
There had been no significant changes that would had made the build very obsolete or unplayable, but admittingly it can use an upgrade since carrying the fireblast playstyle into levels 40+ was stretching it a bit. I would had done it a bit different these days.
the leveling process until skill switch to callidor’s tempest worked out well. i even waited till level 55 (when i rescued hyram). greater fireblast is only nice vs weak enemies, but still together wiith olexra’s flash freeze and devastation i didnt have any problems (playing on normal without veteran though).
atm i only do 10k dps and the mentioned 15-20k, but i am missing the relic and the outcast and vigil faction gear
Sounds about right.
is it still viable after a year as I see it was posted in 2020?
Still viable.
Hi there. Great job, easy to get even tho english is not my native. One noob question: is there any need to go farm crucible a bit in fist 20-30 lvl? For gear mb, or for devotion points? If not, on which lvls it will be?
It has always been most benefical to get the first 5 devotion points in the crucible and then switch to campaign, as for farming gear here at these levels it’s completely pointless because if you have FG Totems in campaign will rain gear upon you.
A matter of personal preference. I do not make my builds reliable on something like that because Crucible DLC is not something just about everyone has / likes.
That is exactly what i wanted to know) TY
Hi,
Im a newbie and following this guide. I’m at lvl 13 and having problems as below:
- using only OFF for lvling is somehow troubling when fighting cold resists enemies. Is there any alternatives for cold resist enemies?
- You said look for rifles, but rifles require cunning while your build put like 4:1 in physics : spirit. then how do I equip the guns?
Thank you for your help in advance and really appreciate it
Gteetings. I believe this is the crucial part you’re missing:
You’re not supposed to use rifle past getting Fireblast. This will also solve it for you when it comes to cold immune enemies.
Another tip is if something doesn’t want to die you don’t necessarily has to kill it, unless it blocks story progression. Most of the experience comes from quests and trash enemies.
