I don’t get the point of adding in a system that lets us obtain other set items easier and then gating it because an incredibly rare crafting mat that ultimately means Crucible is still the single best way to farm anything.
Crate gives us options and then immediately puts them behind a giant wall.
hey they buffed the droprate from bosses with the latest patch (as on patchnotes), I dropped a lot just by killin korvaak/kymon/messenger while doing quests on chars. i’d say 20% droprate or i’m really lucky
Well not everybody is willing to buy crucible? I personally think drops in cruci should be toned tone severely. Builds in yellow items can farm crucible more efficient for loot than fully decked builds in main campaign (apart from high SR shards)
I’ve been all the way through ultimate FG with at least 5 characters now (two of them on normal, elite, and ultimate), and have farmed a bit. I only have 6.
Yeah i get that i was just throwing out that Personal Experience with that Specific Drop Rate on something you farm in another game. 2-3% on those Trophy’s in Median make them some of the most saught after items on that particular Market. Even way late in a Ladder people still need those trophy’s because without them you wont be able to make some of your best endgame charms for example. (Laz Charm…) And most people in the end resort to buying them from other players as a result of the very low drop rate…
Even a 7-10% drop rate on a consumable would still be quite low but be much more manageable by the player i feel. For example if the drop was raised to that threshold then the player may have to ability to make up the rest in farming them with efficiency. 2-3% drop on anything makes it so rare you almost are in the Bragging Rights range when finding such things at those drop rates.
If this is the case sound like Korvaak is your man… Thats the guys we need to be farming. 15% Drop Rate makes it around 1:6-7 drop per kill on average… With RNG factoring in of course. But yeah find an efficient route to this dude and make a farming route out of it maybe? Cant remember who Korvaak is right off ATM…
5% compared to 15% though… There’s your time made up when ill get a drop every 6-7 runs just about while you with your much faster kills yes… will only get your drops 1/3 as much. about 1:20… 1/3rd of time invested yes… for 1/3 less chance at the drop you want…
So all things considered it really depends on which one is easier for your build. And i could certainly see a build farming Messenger easier than Korvaak for sure. That much i will agree with you… But, if your build is sorted and can do it i dont see any reason not to target the better drop rate. Especially on a consumable you want as much of as possible. You take a bit longer but your get your desired results 3 times as often as well with the longer farming route.
I would probably go as far personally as to farm BOTH for say 1-2 hours and keep track of everything… Really see then what works out to be best in Reality. Because we all know from Theory Crafting that sometimes things look good on paper but dont seem to pan out the same in practice… There is a bit to consider here especially in Real Time Efficiency. But in the end its pretty much going to all come down to your build and what it is capable of at the time.
Indeed. Like i said though its all gonna come down to the build in the end. If its a good enough build that can negotiate both routes efficiently all in all my bet is they probably come out pretty damn close pound for pound…
Ones gonna be short run but 1/3rd the drops. The other takes almost 3 times as long but you get the drop 3 times more often… pick your poison. If your build is just as capable of one as the other i dont think its gonna matter much in the end other than picking the one you personally enjoy better. Since in the end its still gonna be a Grind no matter which you choose. Prepare to kill either one A LOT!
Thats why i say a proper test would probably be best seeing as how there could be other factors we are no even thinking of atm… Like other Mats and things we could work into either route to farm multiple thing along the way. The longer route could possibly yield more overall Materials for example over the course of farming. More Iron. More Legs ect. The longer route may also give better chances at finding the Chest that has Celestial Essence as well. Which so far ive found a few of them now and that chest litteraly seems to spawn damn near ANYWHERE in the FG content.
If you think that’s rare, try farming for Alkamos’ Touch of Anguish. They have a 0.8% drop rate from a rogue dungeon boss and cannot be obtained from Crucible and transmute.
BTW here are the current droprates for lotuses from purple bosses:
I find doing Nemesis runs and catching the occasional boss along the way to be quite generous with the lotus drops. The huge amount of additional mat and gear drops makes this quite fun to do.
