hey guys, I haven’t had enough time to play FG, I’ve got only one celestial lotus from the final quest, but i’ve found 9 eldritch essences, given the fact the new legendary set recipes require either of those I wouldn’t expect the lotus to be so much rarer than the essences.
does lotus drop from monsters/is it craftable?
Treasure troves and Nemeses themselves drop it. It’s much rarer because new helms ask for 4 for crafting.
Norzan, is there any way to farm them without relaying too much in RNG? Nemesis comes to mind, but it seems the drop rate is 10% - does the nemesis trove have a better chance? Thank you in advance.
You get 1 more for completing the pendant quest. Could be just ultimate not sure on lower difficulties
According to GT, a couple of purple bosses drop them as well. Even so, I think these things are still ridiculously rare. It shouldn’t hurt to add a 2%-3% drop rate for these things to various other purple FG bosses, right?
Anyone else getting a feeling of deja vu to the old ugdenbloom drop rates? That were massively boosted later. Feels like it to me.
Well, the need for Ugdenbloom was way more demanding due to crafting AoM high-tier components.
But I do agree about this odd design choice of making one rare crafting materia super rare compared to the other ones. Why? Just make them in equal rarity to AoM ones, no reason for creating disbalance.
Oddly enought the secret blacksmith near the gryphon shrine can only convert lotuses into essences, not the other way around. Giving the fact that I have 5 lotuses and +30 essences by now… converting the very rare materia into much more common materia doesn’t seem wise.
so… I’ve searched the forum yesterday but couldn’t find the info. meanwhile I did the vanilla and aom secret quests with a new char, but still haven’t found the pendant. who drops it? do I actually have to kill bourbon/lokarr? I have dalia just standing there in fg… and no mother’s pendant.
edit: nvm, found it by lookin for it on gt… it said that drops from uroboruk’s possessions so… XD
After Uroboruuk explodes himself he’ll leave a super small chest under him, it’s easy to miss as it looks like an common tome item. I missed it too on the first playthrough mistaking it for a item as I poped Dravis’ loot orb right next to it.
yeah well, I’ve missed it on normal, elite and thrice on ultimate for other chars… ROFL
Apart from a shrine, I have not yet found what it is needed for. I assume crafting for some new recipes? The Eldritch Essence is of course more common because you need it for the set item lottery. 
You need the lotuses for the other part of the lottery - transmuting a set item in a random item of another set.
I can tell you one thing right now about that… even at 2-3% drop rate? Prepare to kill A LOT of said bosses before you ever see one drop… Hundreds of kills. Same drop rate as most endgame Trophy’s in MedianXL.
I only suggested 2%-3% because the current purple bosses that drop CLs have a 4.62% drop rate. And I didn’t want to steal their thunder, so to speak.
This whole CL situation unfortunately isn’t very well thought out, unlike much of the rest of FG. In vanilla there was a clear separation of what dropped brains, bloods, and hearts. And each dropped with decent frequency and you could exchange between the three. In AoM there was sort of the same thing between missive/mutagen/spirit. But in FG? Many things drop essences but very few drop lotuses until infamy is maxed with several enemy factions. And you can’t convert essences to lotuses.
Maybe instead of 2%-3% to more FG purple bosses in general, give something like 7.5% specifically to beast only, insectoid, and undead bosses in FG (examples: https://www.grimtools.com/monsterdb/2030/skills, https://www.grimtools.com/monsterdb/1875/skills). And of course allow converting essences -> lotuses.
Yes, it is quite frustrating how rare the lotuses are. Honestly, I expected a special crafting recipe of one of the new secret blacksmiths to be 8 Eldritch Essence for 1 Celestial Lotus, but no dice. 
Pretty sure I got one from dynamiting part of the purple hoard I kept since before AoM. Still incredibly rare, since they are so much of a bottleneck I’m just gonna dynamite most of the spare set pieces I kept too…
Huh? When I checked that only required scrap and aether crystals. Guess that was temporary? Or for lower level sets? The one I tried was level 75.
Also transmuting something to another item from the same set cost far more, 120.000 while transmuting to some other set’s item cost 30.000
Maybe this was changed in the hotfix?
For Set -> Other Set transmutes, it requires lotuses for legendaries and scrap for epics.
Ah OK, that was the reason I saw Scrap, I was trying to transmute Epics.
Shattered Realm drops them frequently.
