Change activation for Blazing Eruption proc from Korvaak's Deception Relic?

In the latest PT, the Unleash Chaos skill from the Darkblaze Source was changed from a castable skill with a CD to be a 10% Chance on Attack proc. This is a welcome change (in my opinion) to a weird skill that, in the past, I only used to trigger Devotions. Even then it was of limited use defensively as it knocks monsters into the air making you miss them when shooting at them with ranged weapons…

Having used the Korvaak’s Deception Relic in a large number of Demo-based builds over the years, I was wondering if the Blazing Eruption proc could get a similar treatment? It feels woefully underpowered and doesn’t seem to do much (use in melee >>> ranged). Again, it becomes something similar to Unleash Chaos where I trigger Devotions with rather it than doing significant damage.

I searched around builds on the forum/GT builds and it seemed that the small number of builds I found that did use the Relic ignored the skill entirely.

With the recent Upheaval change, perhaps this proc could become a WPS using that template? Demo lacks WPS and has limited access beyond other Masteries or relying on other relics/medals/components.

If not changing this to a WPS, perhaps it could be a chance on Attack or on Crit instead?

What do you all think?

WPS would be ideal, then it can retain its function as a devo proccer, even if an unreliable one.

Edit: wish some others got the same treatment. Like Scourge.

Skill is indeed almost never used. It’s easier to use on a caster with a pistol but it’s just never worth it.

2H melee AND ranged wps (ideally a two-shot like Pyroclasm) would be great but Zantai doesn’t allow too much fun for the non-FoA portion of this test patch.

This is exactly what prompted my request - 1h pistol with it does almost nothing at all. :expressionless:

No need to restrict it to 2H only! I would prefer it to be for all weapon combos even 1h-shield similar to the Smite template, but the Upheaval template would be cool too.

If you’re using this for a WPS it’s pretty limiting for damage types that aren’t Fire/Chaos and there are DW and DW ranged options already as Relics.

I used it on this build to proc dr from Kymon’s augment and it worked :see_no_evil:

Overall useless of course.

Two-handers need it the most. Especially melee ones. Maybe Bartholomeum Gavel Demo can become viable with that. I wouldn’t mind it working for 1h ranged too. Or even snb. DW has enough toys imo.

I was assuming this was in line with the change made to Devil-Touched Ammo’s skill.

For reference:

Do you use Doomforce from the Doom soldier Relic?

Been wanting that to be a proc since testing AoM. >.>

That Demon’s Breath change was welcome as well, although I wish the CD was reduced to 1.5-2 seconds to be more competitive in higher levels.

I haven’t used that one in ages honestly. *(I forgot it even exists!)

I think this is an opportunity to make some changes to other Relic procs to make them more desirable with FoA coming.

Scourge Strike and Doomforce have been mentioned, so what other procs would you all like changed to improve their usability?

Doom’s relic proc is the only one that actually has some use in endgame builds. It has good numbers and good utility. I only wish that cooldown was lower.

Scourge on the other hand is just awful. It’s a targeted melee skill with cooldown - one of the most awkward things GD can offer (think cooldown Blade Arc).

As with the consequence of new Demon’s Breath, Dreeg’s Infinite Gaze (from Mark of Dreeg), and Unleash Chaos, any WPS or % proc changes to Blazing Eruption, Doomforce, or Scourge Strike would mean they would no longer be Onslaught-able, if that is a consideration.

a potential impact is also procs can’t be assigned to devos, so if doomforce became a proc it can’t be used for that anymore

True, since procs can’t be assigned to Devotions, then WPS might be the best option.

Some ideas from the top of my mind:

  • Korvaak’s Deception: Proc on (critical?) attack.
  • Doom: Proc (on hit?)
  • Scourge: Cadence-like attack, so it actually scales with attack speed.
  • Blademaster’s Talisman: make it also available for 2h melee weapons, like Plunderer’s available for both 2h and dual wield ranged weapons.

Korvaak relic

That relic has good stats but quite often you already have too many skills to cast withing the Demo mastery.

Imagine builds having BWC + Thermite mines + flashbang + mobility skills + another main attack.
Casting the skill Blazing Eruption on top of that is too much. I basically never use the skill from that relic because of that.

Absolution Relic

I wish the skill was a proc.

Why ?
Because Any shield build with ABB or Bone Harvest ends up with having to buff with 2 skills at every pack of ennemies… I think it’s not fun IMO

ABB + Absolution
or
BoneHarvest + Absolution

Make it a proc !
