Almost every RPG have this feature, dont understand why Crate hasn´t implemented this yet, at least some small editor with skin color, face, hairdos with color and body build would be nice. Maybe add some weapon or mastery depended animations (the standing still animations) for the chars too, you know, so they look badass, right now your dude the only thing it does is wave his head and stay still. With this little details the character would look more alive, after all its a ROLE playing game, I love to feel like I am a mighty Shaman not some CGI guy. I usually lurk the forum and look up builds and dev updates, dont like to type anything because of my bad english, but I love this game and the community a lot, very hyped with the expansion and the misadventures !
its not there because…
resources. time, money, manpower is limited. its better spend on other features that actually add something to the game. The physical appearance is not important at all since you’ll cover it up with armor anyway.
Gibly, I think that if these pieces described above by OP were added as micro-transactions, they could potentially add enough revenue to hire more man power and improve things that players like me and you actually care about (ex: content, skill rebalancing, new classes, etc.). I think this is a pretty good idea and worked super well for Path of Exile.
POE is f2p, so it can get away with micro transactions. On the other hand, GD is a small indie game that can hardly afford to scare away customers with the threat of micro transactions. You have to pay for the game AND micro transactions? Look how well that worked for Battleborn…
Perhaps, though this has been asked many times over the years and the closest thing we’ve seen is the upcoming Illusionist who will allow us to make our gear look like other gear we’ve found.
Also, considering we wear gear and never see our character’s face and hair color or body type seems not all that exciting or enticing.
So highly doubtful we’ll get this feature in this game.
Not to mention that PoE doesn’t allow one to customize their character like what the OP has asked for.
Not a single popular diablo clone/hack and slash in existence has what OP asked for… face customization? Hair edits? Not even in D3. If there is one, it is a wasted feature because you will never see these details in game. IIRC it exists in older console clones, like Champions of Norrath on PS2 because there were little cutscenes where you could actually see your face, but in GD? You never see your characters face, let alone the head past the first hour of gameplay…
If anything, Wolcen will be one of the first, and imo again it is a wasted feature. Adding hair that gets removed the second you equip a helmet? I could see making a fat/skinny char, but that puts pressure on the game devs to find a way to make armor fit differently and not how it was done in Fable 3 where everything looked poofy.
I was replying to UNC and I thought since he mentioned POEs microtransactions he was talking about the little transmogs you can buy from the shop there.
I’m with you there. I figured I would add the fact that PoE’s microtransactions also didn’t provide character customizations that the OP was wanting, since it seemed like UNC was missing that.
I agree with you about Wolcen implementing this feature - it seems wasted.
The only way its not wasted is if there’s a way to make one’s gear invisible.
This feature request is more of an MMO feature, not an ARPG feature.
Yeah, it might be somewhat common in RPGs these days, but definitley not in ARPGs… Torchlight had different faces / hair colors, but that is the only one I can think of.
This feature is pretty pointless as you never see enough of your char for it to matter.
