Chilling Rounds Devotion Proc Chance

Hi guys

Quick Q on this skill, Chilling Rounds.

It hits 3 times in quick succession (or 4x with dual pistols, AFAIK). I’ve done a little test on the dummy, but it’s hard to tell… does each hit have a chance to activate a Chance on Attack / Critical Hit, or do all the 3/4 strikes count as 1?

I suspect it is the former, but confirmation would be great

Thanks!

I’ve made a quick test.
40 chilling rounds procced 20% Raise the dead 17 out of 40 times.
17/40 = 42.5%

Let’s assume 3 shots with crossbow in a Chilling Round.
Should have 1 - 0.8^3 = 48.8% proc chance assuming 20% for every single shot.

We can see these 2 numbers match, hence indeed every single strike of Chilling Rounds has chance to proc.

Here’s the data gathered if someone would like to carry out a full-fledged statistical analysis

That’s some cool calculating right there! Unpacking the numbers, the 17/40 (at 20% chance) alone would suggest each strike procs, because otherwise it would be closer to 8/40 (20%)

I wouldn’t have been able to take the next step with your “1 - 0.8^3 = 48.8%”, are you trained in mathematics or am I just bad at it? :persevere:

Thanks tqFan I really owe you one…

its just complementary probability, I teach my 16y old kids this in school :stuck_out_tongue:

Hehe I haven’t done maths since I was 16 in school ! Obviously I’ve got some (re)learning to do…

Yeah, it’s a trick to calculate it quickly

You calculate what’s the chance to NOT proc in 3 shots and it’s easy because it means not proccing in 1st shot AND 2nd shot AND 3rd shot : (100% - 20%) * (100% - 20%) * (100% - 20%) = 51.2% and then the chance to proc is 100% - 51.2% = 48.8%

If we want to calculate it as is then
The chance to proc in 3 shots means procing in 1 shot OR procing in 2 shot OR procing in 3 shot and because there’s OR there and not AND these events are not mutually exclusive it’s much more calculating

Or just “Probability of at least one projectile proccing revenant”
