Chillwhisper reaper - looking for feedback

First things first: im not a professional builder. That’s why im looking for feedback.

Starting idea is to make a cold essence drain build with chillwhisper set.

Here is my first draft:

For essence drain we want to convert vit into cold and aether into cold: check
For essence drain we also want 200% cast speed: check

Support damage comes from blade spirits which is nice and passive (so we can keep channeling ED and also supported by the CW-set.

Both skills also provide sustain with ADH.

Problems:

  • Low armour, low physical resists -> which made me go for Grey Magi boots and high DA (3k+ with all debuffs). i also went for capped Omen for the damage reduction.

  • RR: necro mastery has none and the set doesnt provide any --> i went with necrosis amulet coz it also gives cast speed and some OA + offhand choice: speaker for the dead + band of eternal haunt.

So im at - 91 RR + - 32 from elemental storm, which isnt high for a cold build but keep in mind ED also has the 25% damage mod from gravechill.

Gear choices:

Offhand: i might be a mistake to not take Grasp of the Dead, not sure tho the - 15 RR mod on Speaker for the Dead isnt small fry.

Rings: didnt want to use alkamos rings coz i dont have them and they are impossible to farm (i play SSF) so i ended up with eternal band.

For pants i could use a good rolled Aleksander pants with physical resist but havent found a decent pair yet.

I think my gloves, belt and medal are probably best in slot. Note that in my GT my belt has no prefix or suffixes: depends on what we find: id aim for lots of OA and resists and then re-arrange augments.

Here i really struggle… its probably all over the place.

Devotions:

My own creation: went for cast speed, rumor/whirlpool and blizzard. With my 3 last points i took giant blood.

The combination purple/green route is hamstringing you in a few ways. You desperately need physical resistance and also armor. Chillwhisper set has zero and the purple route is also weak in it. You can pick up a bit from boot slot, but you’re still going to need more from devotions like Sailor’s Guide, Lion, Lotus, Typhos even wouldn’t be a terrible idea since you can then be more liberal with your component and augment choices. You might even find a solution that lets you keep both Blizzard and Whirlpool, but I don’t think that’s likely, you probably need to stick with Amatok only and go green route to get some Ultos nodes.

I’m uncertain about Master of Death vs. Harbinger. You have low crit damage, so maybe the casting speed from Harbinger will be worth more so that you have other good gearing options and not just cast speed pieces.

Edit: Yep, I didn’t even know about Mad’s build and pretty much does everything I suggested. :smiley:
