Citizens getting stuck in the pond with no way of getting out

I have this issue where my villagers would just go into this water area but cannot get out for some reason. I do not want to fence it because the location is beautiful and useful because of the fish production bonus but villagers keep on randomly going here and dying.

Please fix this asap I am randomly losing 1-10 villagers per year because of villagers dying from starvation even though I typically end the year with 4-7 months worth in storage.

Firstly make a separate save, and then use the flattening tool.
This solves the issue most of the times, except if it is in the water, where the tool can’t reach.
