Cleansing Waters devotion skill question

Hey hey,

I’ve noticed that the Cleansing Waters devotion skill only seems to dispell one enemy target, tested extensively on Cronley and his shield buff.

If he’s the only one in range of the skill the shield will get dispelled but if there’s other mobs around me/him a random mob (sometimes Cronley ofc) will have the dispell graphic underneath them and Cronley’s shield remains.

Not sure if this is a bug or a phrasing error of the devotion skill, as it states:

“Ulo’s cleansing waters purge all foul magic from the area, removing beneficial auras and spells from foes”. Foes as in plural, and with a range of 3 meters.

I currently have Cleansing Waters bound to grasping wines. Does the 3 meter radius radiate from me or the spell it is bound to? Then could this be the issue?

Edit: It definitely emanates from the bound-to skill (Grasping Vines). But even as the active target some other random mob will get dispelled and Cronley will not (in most cases).

Edit2: Blurry screenshot of his second shield coming up but not being dispelled, I immediately put grasping vines on him for the first time since dispelling the first shield. Definitely more than 22 seconds had passed since then (recharge timer).

Edit3: Blurry screenshot of the first shield being dispelled with a clearly visible dispell graphic underneath Cronley.

Grasping Vines is itself an area effect spell, with a radius of up to 7.5m at 12 points. So I imagine what is happening in your case is that Cleansing Waters triggers on the first target to be affected by your Grasping Vines spell, which could easily be further than 3m from Cronley.

Personally, I bind Cleansing Waters to a skill that I only use to proc Cleansing Waters, that way I know it will go off exactly when and where I need it (assuming the proc itself is not on cooldown).

Yes, I think you might be on to something.

But at only one point (as I have) in Grasping Vines the radius is only 4 meters, which almost corresponds to Cleansing Water’s 3 meters. And the damage should happen simultaneously for all afflicted mobs I’d think - so maybe the game randomizes which enemy that is “first” afflicted and then draws a 3 meter radius from that one, and if that happens within the one meter that is out of limit of my active target it doesn’t get afflicted - I can get on board with that.

However I think the game should prioritize active target above anything else generally.

I only use Grasping Vines to proc Cleansing Waters, mostly to clear myself of debuffs but also for specific boss buffs like Cronley’s shield.

I wonder if multiple procs can happen if used with wind devils

Use Savagery or Cadence since its 100% proc

They can not.

Savagery is bound to Shield Wall as I want maximum uptime on that. So Grasping Vines is my only choice really with my current build (warder).

Use Cadence just to proc Ulo

Will it proc on the first swing or will it take 3? Bit awkward if it’s the latter. Blade Arc works fine, though.

Don’t use Cadence, but we are digressing.

Any thoughts on potential random chosen originating target from outside the three meter radius of Cleansing Waters?
