Uh hello. This is probably going to sound really daft and everything as I am fairly new to the game but I have been trying to design a character build based around two handed melee and chaos/cold skills, something akin to like a Death Knight or some such.
My only issue is I’ve already got a Witch Hunter caster and I’d rather not do the same two masteries so I’ve rather hit a wall. I was wondering if it was possible to do a witch blade or a blade master, and fill in the lacking skills with items/components or if this would end up just being weak.
The build doesn’t have to do anything amazing, just be fairly viable and not die too much, I’m kind of casual. Heh, i’m more worried about it fitting thematically than anything.
I’ll try to remember to elaborate on this later when I am not on my phone, but if you’re willing to trade in cold damage fot vitality or physical, withblade totally works. I use a sword&board version that focuses on vitality and chaos. Max Occ mastery for possession, Sigil of Consumption line for aoe, blood of dregg for heals, handful of points in Cadence for single target. Solael’s Witchblade and Second Rite really help turning your weapon damage into more chaos/vit for things like Cadence(Mistborn Talisman/troll’s rage was great for early-mid game). Dump points into soldier mastery passives as needed for tankiness. I love devotions like Tip the Scales since it is good healing plus damage that scales with the bonuses you’ll be chasing.
I love the theme, as to me, chaos and vitality damage on a melee screams “Death Knight”
Maybe try Nightblade+Demo. Not much melee-ish Chaos damage outside Occultist. Some in Demo, some in Nightblade, tons of Cold damage in Nightblade.
I’m thinking of trying a Vitality+Chaos damage melee Pyromancer. But might have to resort to dual pistols.
If you’re not married to Chaos damage I HIGHLY recommend my latest Spellbreaker cold-damage melee spec. Most fun and most powerful spec I’ve played. Based around ShadowStrike and Phantasmal Blades. I play it dual wield but 2H can work (just no Executioner).
Neat, just this morning I was dabbing with the concept of a Death Knight clone. So far I haven’t truly found a viable option, but I assume the best lineup would be to go Nightblade/Occulist to keep the thematic approach of an Unholy DK, however, I was looking into Nightblade/Arcanist for an attempt at a Frost DK clone.
I was also in hope of mimicking the enhancement shaman, but if I recall Primal Strike is two-handed only?
All in all hopefully someone could invest some time looking into this búild for you who has more knowledge on class creation.
If you meant both cold and chaos, that wont work. those damage types dont come together.
If you mean just cold, you can do it, although cold is mainly used by Nightblade class, that specializes in dual-wielding. It wont be effective with 2-hander.
Chaos, on other hand, may work. You should go for Abomination constellation, that adds chaos damage and converts physical damage into chaos as well. Get some weapon with phys->chaos conversion, and you’ll deal almost pure chaos damage.
To boost chaos damage, you should pick Occultist class - it’s one of his core damage types. To make good use of 2-hander, you should pick Shaman or Soldier.
I have no idea either but that’s actually fairly similar to what I had in mind to begin with! Maybe I’ll try it. I’m pretty sure its obvious but i’m not the kind of player to care if something isn’t the absolute best of the best as long as its fun to play.
Thanks for all the replies and such! I actually thought I might of come across as a bit of a nub and wasn’t gonna get any responses. I had the idea with the Witch Blade too so I might give that a try as well.
