I got the idea of doing something slightly different.
Grim Dawn has a lot of lines to translate and doing that alone when you have a full-time job is kinda complicated. So why not everyone translate the game at the same time?
May sound crazy but hey, worked for Minecraft…
I’ve created a translation project for GD at Zanata.
Project page: https://translate.zanata.org/zanata/project/view/grim-dawn
For now I’ve only uploaded the main quest (mq_) source files. I will be adding the others in the next few hours.
I will take care of keeping the source files updated. This may take a day or two until I get to merge them. I might also consider delegating this job to somebody else or even writing a script to do this.
Before you begin translating, please read the rules:
- In the language description file (“language.def.txt”), the Author field should be always the equivalent of “Community” in that language.
- “Explicit” words are allowed as long as they are not targeted at anyone or anything from outside the game world. Also, they must match with the original dialog and should not be added at random.
- Translations can be added by anyone logged-in on Zanata. However, they must be first approved by the mantainer of that language in order to be included in the localization package.
- If you want to become a mantainer, you must first apply.
- You will not receive any (money/material) compensation for your contributions — that includes coffee, a water slide and stickers of any sort.
A language will only be added if we have at least one maintainer for that.
Language mantainer application scheme:
Nickname/IGN: darkalemanbr
Real name: Matheus (only first name)
Native language(s): Brazilian Portuguese
Why do you wanna become a mantainer for this project?
I follow this game’s development since I finished the TQ story. Last month I finally purchased the game and got really impressed. These guys made a triple-A game on a small budget and I feel they deserve more than money for the pleasure I’ve had playing their game (which is not finished yet, so more to come), they deserve my love. <3
