Combined Class Mastery Trees

Hi folks,

I haven’t posted much on these forums, but have been playing/following Grim Dawn for a long time. I have an idea for masteries and have not been successful in finding similar threads so I want to post it and see what people think.

I have been thinking about how Crate could expand mastery trees in the event of a level cap increase (early I know), and thought a possibility could be them adding some sort of combined mastery tree that is a result of the two masteries you choose.

Obviously, this sounds like a lot of potential work on Crate’s part with 15 mastery combinations currently, and an added mastery in the expansion shooting that number to 21. However, I am intrigued by the idea enough to see what people think and to see if this has been discussed/considered before by the devs.

This could be a really elegant way to expand character customization without touching the current mastery trees (which I think are in a really good place), and would give the combinations themselves more flavor beyond the abstract combinations we can make now. They could also make this “third” tree only accessible once you hit 85, and give skills points for it in place of the normal mastery trees.

What do you guys think? I am very interested in how people think this could work, or if they’d even want to see this kind of thing implemented. So please dissect it however you can, how this could negatively or positively effect the game with the release of an expansion.

and they can add sword and gun(wielding both together) to one of the combined trees when they are at it. :stuck_out_tongue:

This is actually the kind of thing I was thinking of. Skills with combined classes that you can’t achieve within a single mastery. Your example would probably be like demo/nightblade in my head.

I have almost the same idea one day http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32046

No. Never ever please.
