[Commando] First Character: Forcewave Build - Advice

Dear Grim Dawners,

I recently started playing Grim Dawn and have enjoyed the journey so far. Currently my character (commando) is level 61 and heading to Homestead. The build is completely self-made and was wondering if I’m taking the right path gear and skillwise. Below you will find a list of my gear and the build I have at the moment. All advice is welcome, thanks!

VANDER used BUMP TOPIC!

It’s super effective!

I needed to enter 10 letters to bump this topic, kinda got carried away.

I will change the belt

Devotion - get Giant’s Blood, if possible - get healing rain, if it’s too far to reach, that’s okay, you can get Blast Shield from Demo tree

choose Kymon’s Chosen - their ring & amulet augment is very good - i.e. % chance to reduce target’s damage

Your OA and DA need to improve

Always try to max resist

Get Blackwater Cocktail with High Potency (from Demo tree) - especially against physical dmg boss - e.g. Fabius

I’ll pick up Flashbang (with 1 point in Searing light) too from Demo tree - this skill is too good to miss out

Don’t place more than 1-4 points in menhir’s, decorated soldier and scars of battle bonuses can be pretty easily bypassed by gear/components/augs, they don’t worth the investments unless you have a lot of spare points. This way you’ll free around 28 points you’ll invest in something useful.

Unfortunately, it kills too slowly on the mobs that matter in the endgame to really shine. :frowning:

Indeed, Forcewave just has too poor damage. AoE is awesome, but damage is lackluster. Not to mention high energy consumption. You may discover, that Blade Arc is actually better, cause it has higher damage output while still killing packs pretty fast.

If you want to build upon “wave-like” skill, i’d rather suggested building around Obsidian Juggernaut. Its active skill deals pretty high damage due to shotgun, although drains insane amounts of energy.

Blade Arc was great for killing packs, although on mobs like Moose and Fabius, it took forever and a day to kill them, making the build less than optimal for my playstyle.
