Constellation - Crab

Note B

Currently:

+30% Elemental
+70% Internal Trauma

Suggestion:

+70% Physical
+70% Internal Trauma

Node D

Currently:

+25 DA
18% Pierce Resistance

Suggestion:

+30% Elemental
+25 DA
18% Pierce Resistance

Reasoning:

It’s no secret that since 2H’s base damage is much bigger than most flat bonuses, you’re bound to end up with a mix of physical and some other damage type, in 99% of cases it’s either fire (FS), lightning (Savagery) or elemental (Discord). This change is to enhance these builds. And Arbiter as well <3

Side question:

What do you think of Elemental Barrier? Cooldown is surprisingly low, even though chance to proc is low as well. But well, grimcalc says it has 1150 damage absorbtion on the last level. Measuring it’s effectiveness against Mog is not exactly fair, but how it will do later in the game against white/yellow monsters, e.g. against gazer eyes lightning barrage?

Lol, who voted “Yes”?

I did. I have an Quick Jacks Elementalist, and Crab fits well in my devotion plan and also provides me with a defensive skill.

The +% Internal Trauma stat does not do me much good, but it’s a thing amongst Ascended constallations, so I guess it has its use for other builds. :undecided:

QJ Elementalist with Crab

Hmm, well you must have something on your mind. You did remind me of Imp’s existence on the devotion map

I tried using it on my DW-Pistols Battlemage but was short on devotion points so had to drop it in the end-game :undecided:
Was pretty fun during leveling though, so thanks for that

Usually I bind Imp to Canister, 100% chance to proc Aetherfire for every target hit with Canister, literally turning every room into conflagration branch office. Also since it’s blue/green it’s a decent stepping stone towards Behemoth for both Aether and Fire builds.

I have used the Crab constellation on my elemental tremor build and it is ok. I mostly need it for the points but the one saving grace about the skill is, unlike the turtle, it does take into account your resistances.

However, I feel just elemental absorbing is not enough, I think adding something else like poison or pierce would make it much more useful since quite a few enemies don’t use elemental damage at certain parts in the game.

Furthermore, I can’t understand why it also increases physical and internal trauma damage. I can’t see any reason to use this constellation if your going down that route, the only characters that I have that use the crab are elemental based characters so the physical and internal trauma is rendered useless. Especially since physical damage conversion also converts internal trauma to burn, frost burn, electrocute etc so it feels really out of place.

I also have a blade arc blind fury build and the crab is just worse for that build compared to what else is on offer, even with the bonus physical and internal trauma damage. If you’re thinking of spending that many devotion points you’re more than likely going to go for Rhowan’s Scepter than the Crab as it is just better for those builds, the chance to stun is also a major factor.

My suggestion is get rid of the physical and internal trauma bonuses and give %physical damage resistance, increase the %elemental damage and perhaps flat elemental damage as well.

Ive used id during leveling… for res and purple points.
Dunno, the nodes look okeysh, but dont make much sense. IRC internal trauma gets converted to ele DOT so if youre building something around ele dmg its a waste. The proc is weak, almost non noticable.

It’s not like a constellation must definitely suit certain damage combos. Aether + Lightning on Widow doesn’t make much sense either, but I for one can’t imagine an Aether or Lightning build without Widow. For obvious reasons.

As for taking Crab for purple points - noone needs a stepping stone that only provides 3 points for 5 points invested. Especially when we’re talking about elemental - what for would I need more than 13 points? Not even mentioning that I would need to invest into Yellow points, so it’s pretty much 3 purple for 9 points invested.

This is probably the most confusing constellation to me. Internal Trauma and physical damage mixed with elemental damage? Like, what?

The reason i never pick it up is because of the overall confusing mix of damage types.

They both do.

Yeah its pretty weak but unlike turtle, it procs on hit instead of low hp, and has much lower cooldown. Doesn’t make it better, especially because the nodes are pretty lame. It seems like it’s made with a battlemage or some type of melee/mage hybrid in mind, slightly tanky with physical + elemental damage types.

oh, well that makes the turtle better then! thanks for the info! I thoighy it used to be at the start of the damage formula so I guess at some point it changed for the better! I admit my mistake!

i remember 3 years ago when i tried quick jacks and was like meh… maybe i should give them another shot

Yes, my Battlemage uses it.

Frankly, I support the idea of buffing up the nodes, but I also think that buffing the proc itself would be a good idea too. The damage absorbtion is too low on high difficulties.
