Conversion?

New-ish player…Found a few cool mechanics, components, and items/item rolls for conversion. It seems there’s a lot for phys-fire, phys-light, and some for phys-elemental, phys-chaos. I did see one phys-aether.
What else does the game have? What are the best things to use for them? It seems cool, so I’m curious. Is there conversion that isn’t phys to something else? And is there a good way/build to be elemental damage, in general, rather than specifically focusing on any or any two of the elements? I see some half support for elemental damage in Arcanist…But I don’t see much to go with it that isn’t focused on two damages, rather than all three.

Also…I do mostly play Path of Exile, so I have to ask…If I convert phys to chaos…Does it benefit from Phys AND Chaos, or just the Chaos? As far as I can see, it’s just the chaos…But I should check. :slight_smile:

Conversion happens before any bonuses are applied, so when converting phys to chaos it ignores all +% phys damage you have, but you do get full benefit from +% chaos dmg.

I have no idea is there a way to make a good elemental damage build, been wondering that myself.

to your question for elemental damage conversion builds:
atm i have a lvl 40 battlemage doing a Ranged elemental build wich works very fine. Cadence can pierce throug enemys, causing a lot of procs, and Sacred Strike gives you resistance reduction and good single target damage.
damage might be so good because of the weapon, i had a epic crossbow with elemental boost stored, but i lukily found a very good enchanters fleshwarped incernator of elements wich is even stronger
Iskendra, cadence,… nothing complex there. Just devotion got me some time:
Rhowans crown, Hydra and Crab (and owl, lion and scolars lightto unlock them)
now i just need to get lizzard and Kraken and then i can fokus on defensive devotion. Try it out, its fun.

my question to the topic: is conversion phys to X applied before or after armor piercing? if it is applied after, armor piercing would be a bad thing in that case. But i found many epic and legendary weapons having conversion and high piercing ?

If you convert a skill’s physical damage (incl. the physical portion of any weapon damage) and the skill or any of its modifiers provide you with +%physical damage, then this is calculated before the conversion - i.e. it is still worth investing skill points in these nodes. See Conversion for details.

@L0KI - the piercing ratio on weapons is also a form of conversion (from physical to pierce damage), so this conversion takes place when all other conversions from equipment and buffs are done.

Thank you!
Just to see if i really got that right:
Weapon:
21% to Elemental
10% to Fire
28%to Pierce
Blessed Steel: 10% to Elemental
Cadence modifier: 50% to Elemental

modifier -> 50% phys 50%Elemental
Blesses Steel -> 45%Phys 55%Elemental (10% of 50%)
Weapon Ele -> 35,55% Phys 64,45% Elemental
Weapon Fire -> 31,995% Phys 64,45% Elemental 3,555% Fire
Weapon Pierce ->23,0364% Phys 64,45% Elemental 3,555% Fire 8,9586% Pierce
would be nice if something like this (percentual conversions of phys dmage over all) could be viewed in the characters inventory.
