Hello. I was wondering if you were already converting 100% damage to another damage for a particular skill, and you got a gear piece that converted, say, 30% of all that damage to the same damage previously converted, does it stack?
conversion doesn’t happen twice, so it will happen in the same “step” at best
so if you ex convert 100% fire to cold, and 30% cold to fire then A takes all base fire you have and converts to cold, and B takes 30% of base cold and converts to fire
meaning if your initial stats, pre conversion, were (A)100 fire dmg (B)100 cold, then the outcome would be (A)170 cold and (B)30 fire
I meant if you converted 100% fire to chaos for say Fire Strike, and you had gear that converted 30% of all fire to chaos, does it stack?
Sorry my question wasn’t worded the best.
stack how? as in you’d suddenly get 30% extra dmg out of nowhere? no, conversions dont’ stack like that,
it caps out at 100%, and if you have multiple diff amount conversions they each get divided up accordingly to where it then in then end still equals 100%
doesn’t skill conversion happen before global conversion though?
yep, indeed it does
does it mean that you can actually convert a skill damage type twice? Once through skill conversion and then through global conversion?
No, why. The “you cannot convert twice” applies to precisely this situation - conversion on different levels. Because on the same level conversion happens once / at once naturally. Of course this rule applies to a single point of damage because some part of damage can be first converted by skill conversion, yet other part only later by global conversion - but only the part that was not converted before.
but i remember there were some exceptions from this rule, right? I think Guardians of Empyrion were behaving differently?
Yeah, it’s an exception - you can thing of Scions as a new skill completely. But Corrupted Totems on the other hand are converted Storm Totems so they cannot be converted further.
