First things first, I don’t consider the set to be weak per se.
But, it does feel somewhat weird, especially in the current state of things (note - 1.2)
So, here goes some wishful thinking -
Make the Set craftable by giving it a blueprint just like how all the other Pet sets are. It is by no means stronger than the rest to warranty it being harder to assemble. This would be more of a QoL buff, so should be fine I assume.
Move the +1 summon limit to Hellhound from Lost Souls to Trinkets. Currently, going for Trinkets leaves you with very little in terms of having a meat shield to tank for you. Perhaps Lost Souls could get its own Dirge like pet in place of the Hellhound bonuses?
Make Bysmiel’s Mindweaver a part of the set and then buff the set accordingly or give 100% physical > elemental conversion on the Set itself. Because, as it stands right now, you end up going for Mindweaver by default for if you want 100% conversion to elemental (since Manifestarius sucks too much to waste Off-hand slot for the conversion).
Could the Attack Speed bonus on the granted skill be changed to Total Speed instead (with reduced numbers if necessary) since Familiars don’t use attack speed anyway.
Something that won’t happen, but give Familiars their 100% all resistances back since they are basically paper atm and don’t even have the number advantage Skeletons enjoy.
Feel free to add to the topic, suggest different changes, or argue the ones proposed
I don’t think that having Bysmiel’s Mindweaver as part of the set would be a good idea, since that would limit the diversity of builds you can make with this set. For example you could use Ultos’s mace + the Malmouth craftable offhand to make a nice lightning build
That said I agree with the lack of strong tank pet for this set ^^
I’ve been messing around with this set on the Cabalist side, as it does have the Blight Fiend to provide a meat shield, alongside massive Call of the Grave bonuses. It performs okay, with average Crucible times hovering around 6:30. That’s not particularly a great time, and it is high time to modernize the set a bit:
First: the build -
Seeing how Will of Bysmiel amulet gives both modifiers to Summon Familiar and the summon Chaos pets proc, having zero modifiers in either the amulet or the medal slot feel off. I know the bird primarily attacks with shotgunning projectiles, but maybe give it some flat Electrocute so that Lightning Strike has a bigger DoT effect?
Some flat CDR to Call of the Grave would be nice, as there’s nothing broken about giving Call of the Grave more uptime, comparatively speaking. Primal Bond has nearly the same effect (yes, less damage for pets, but it comes with damage absorption and it’s permanent) and you can’t stack it with the amulet that gives you 5 second extra duration anyway. Putting it as part of the 4pc bonus would be most suitable.
The 3pc set bonus is just… eww? Stacking DoT damage does nothing for pet builds (unless if you’re bleed) since you’re going for big chonky normal pet hits with increased attack speed. There’s also very little tertiary resistances for pets (only a little petrify resistance) and no physical resistance for pets. I’m honestly not sure where you can put some extra pet physical resistance without making the 3pc Beastcaller + 4pc Bysmiel build even more overpowered, but the Cabalist side really needs it.
