Because otherwise when I’m messing around with a build I’m levelling or polishing off I can burn through these like they’re Oreo’s and so have to GD stash them. And since SR is great for stress testing, I’d rather earn them than have to cheat. Because after all, cheating is for the stuff that takes forever to earn or isn’t in the stash on my mules or tester builds 
I also haven’t seen a single one drop when running into Valdaran while aether crystal farming.
unsure if it was missed in the changelog, but you realize you can just go craft “infinite” amount of them at the celestial smith? (from those rewards out of SR)

Still, pretty expensive compared to SR30-31 rewards in contrast to the costs you pay for removing devotion points. Which I have sunk millions of iron on in my Acid Retal Sentinel that doesn’t use the spamulet Conduit for AoM. Because only in testing do you find out if a particular devotion path actually works 
it costs 1 aether shard/3 crystals sounds like a fraction of a regular point removal?
and you usually get a shard or crystal from completing SR too (and iirc reset potion wasn’t a 100% guarantee before either?)
