Covenant and PvP content

Although, on the other hand, the Gods of covenants, with the help of their power, could give an increase in a large amount of health.

  • How many need HP? 300k or 500k?
  • Introduce restrictions on the use of bottles, like a curse enemy covenant

I enjoy PvP in games, when it’s well done, but:

Path of Exile tried an ā€œinvasion style PvPā€ for a brief event in between seasons.
Players genuinely hated it and it never came back.
In general the PvP mode there never garnered much traction.
(I say that, as one of the few PvP players back then)

Albion Online had the entire eco-system built around PvP.
It did so well, that the player-base measured in the hundreds, before it went f2p.
Now it has a steady player-base and is probably the most established, PvP-focused MMO.
But the number of players isn’t huge for a f2p title.

New World started with a PvP focus, early player feedback on that was overwhelmingly negative.
So they shifted towards opt-in PvP for some content, which most people opted out of.
Now it’s going to the farm up-state. I wonder where that game could be, if they had poured their resources into PvE content instead.

Ashes of Creation is a PvP-focused MMO in development.
One of the main complaints players have right now seems to be the PvP.
We’ll see where that one goes…

PvP in loot-grind games is a niche, and every time a studio falls into the trap of making PvP the focus, they find out that they are making a game for a non-existent player-base.
