I played the 1.3 playtest a bit yesterday. New UI looks great! I just tried switching back to public and am now getting a crash report. The game will not load. What steps should I take to help? Thank you!
The 1.3 save files cannot be read by the old version of the game. Did you back up your saves and settings before the switch?
Yeah, no way saves gonna be backwards compatible with a big update like that.
But only the character you played might be modified, the rest should be fine.
Yes, the character you used would be affected and the others should be fine. However, the bigger issue is that your stash file definitely has been altered with the game load. Previously GD only accessed the stash file when you interacted with the Smuggler. Now it loads the file when you enter the game with a character…
Depending on what they had there, they might at least GDStash back Stash content if they really want to play in 1.2.1.6 and have no backup ![]()
I did a backup save before loading the playtest. Do I need to clear the save file at try to load again? Thank you for the help!
That’s true! I had forgotten GD Stash can read the 1.3 files now.
My brain hasn’t been properly lubricated with caffeine yet… ![]()
Excellent. Yes, delete/remove the existing 1.3 files, replace them with the old files, and then you should be good to go.
That fixed it. Thanks
Hi there I’m having the same issue I deleted my save and replaced it with my backup folder and it didn’t work, i’m not sure which files are 1.3
Does your backup include the formula, transfers and transmute files? Or was it the main folder holding the characters themselves?
Main folder
It’s probably the transfer files then, if you didnt back it up you’ll lose your transfer stash but try pulling those files out and see if the game loads
what directory are they in sorry, thanks for the help
Documents/My Games/Grim Dawn/save
Or if you have the cloud saves enabled they’ll be in your steam directory
Steam/userdata/[userid]/219990/remote/save
That’s fixed it thank you so much!
Great, glad to hear it! And welcome to the forum
