Since FoA launch, a friend I regularly play with isn’t able to join or host MP games. We are playing same version, both own the FoA expansion separately, are using no mods, her steam files verified with no additional downloads and her drivers have all been recently updated.
She had no problems joining and/or hosting MP games prior to FoA launch, and neither of us have changed our connection sources.
Do both of your Network Tests in settings work / return successfully?
We both got the same message “The public IP address reported by your router does not match the public IP address externally visible–”
I’m assuming we’ll have to port forward in this case, however I’m confused as to why we’re just now having the issue when we’ve had no problems connecting to one another’s session until the expansion release.
In addition, I’m able to both host and/or join other games even with the network test results, and I do not experience any crashing.
How does this manifest? Tries to connect but stalls, game is not visible at all, goes to black or infinite loading screen, gives an error message, crashes immediately?
And is there anything informative in the log file in the game save folder after a failed connection?
When she attempts to join my game, she’s either met with a loading screen for a few seconds followed by a ‘Connection Lost’ notification, or a black loading screen for a few seconds followed by client freezing, needing to be closed via Task Manager.
When she attempts to host, the game will hang in loading for a few seconds prior to the ‘Fangs of Asterkarn’ logo of the main menu popping up on the top of the screen (like the main menu cut in half) followed by the client freezing, requiring another Task Manager process end.
I currently do not have access to her log files atm as she is away, however I’ll ask her later in the morning. I appreciate you looking into this!
