Critique my first build please

I just recently purchased Grim Dawn and have been getting bored of most builds I played. I decided to attempt to create my own build using other information provided on the Grim dawn wiki and other peoples guides.

I would like some critique on skills and devotions, also some recommendations for gear as I have no idea what gear it would use.

I am looking to be a full fire damage, fire strike commando.

The problem with your original setup was that you didnt take one of the soldier’s exclusives, rule of thumb as a demolitionist dual class: Unless you’re nightblade/demolitionist, ALWAYS take one of your other masteries 2 exclusives.

other than that, since you’re going 2h rifle, I used devotion to give you a ton of defensive measures to help shore up your defense. kept Ulzuins torch as that constellation is both good and fun, and added Solaels Witchblade for the Eldritch fire proc, as resist reduction is VERY important in ultimate.

Use Blackwater Cocktail and flashbang to Debuff, clean house with firestrike and meteor shower

Then, you better play Demolisher + Inquisitor. Or Demolisher + Shaman. Because, if you plan to use Fire Strike and rifle, why do you want to use Soldier? He doesnt have any support for fire damage, nor any useful ranged skills (remember, you use Fire Strike, not Cadence).

If you want to be tanky, get Shaman instead. He also has decent HP boost, but also he has nice ranged WPS and resistance reduction from Wind Devil. Inquisitor also has strong WPS, also has resistance reduction, and offers higher DPS, but a bit less HP.

The reason i went Soldier is because I play Hardcore and from what I looked at it looked like the best second class in terms or survivability.

If you could recommend what to take if i was to go shaman? and would the devotions differ etc.

Shaman offers higher survivability, and wont have lower DPS as well. He gains more HP with Heart of the Wild, great self-heal and ADCTH with Wendigo Totem, resistance reduction with Wind Devil, damage absorb with Primal Bond and WPS skills Feral Hunger and Upheaval (that now DO work with 2-h ranged weapons).
The only downside is that Shaman doesnt provide stun/slow resistances, but if you take Soldier for CC resistances only, better take Inquisitor or even Arcanist, lol.

Now about skills. You probably should unlearn Grenado and Canister Bomb, and Vindictive flame to 1, even. Shaman will have many useful skills to put points into.
Your devotions dont look like you playing Hardcore. Pick defensive devotions, go for Light of Empyrion or something. Grab more HP. It’s hardcore, damn it!
