Cronley Rep, Negative Kymon Rep, and probably Death's Vigil Rep farming

Farming nemesis status for Cronley, Kymon and probably DV is a relatively bad player experience, though I think Kymon/Death’s Vigil isn’t far from being good.

Kymon + Death’s Vigil (untested on DV)

  • I know you boosted the rate of rep gain, but holy shit these runs are boring. You basically just spam Tomb or Bart, maybe do Fort Haron if you’re feeling frisky. I think it’s close to being perfect but the mob density is pretty sparse, and there are sometimes ZERO hero mobs spawning. I think all it needs is more hero spawns in both locations. (Probably same for DV but I haven’t tested yet)

Cronley

  • I’ll be frank, I think they should get the DV/Kymon rep boost treatment. It just feels bad to have to go back to act 2 just to complete a character and unlock the nemesis. I think the rep farming routes are a GREAT experience! Tons of heros, bosses to pick from, areas to pick from. Four hills, Cronley hideout, arkovian docks, MI’s to farm on the way, chance for celestial totem. But because Cronley’s gang makes such a short appearance, you just have to do a LOT of farming them compared to the other factions.
  • Alternatively or additionally, you could boost the amount of negative rep gained from Act 2 quests and maybe add some negative rep on a quest that doesn’t grant any. This could significantly help close the gap for new players or ssf players who complete quests on each difficulty.

Closing Argument

The nemesis feature is imo, a fantastic one. I think the sooner players reach the additional spawns and nemesis unlocked, the better. I don’t think anything I’ve suggested could possibly make truly noob players hit nemesis before they’re ready to handle them in ult. Farming these factions often FEELS like a completionist’s detour, stopping you from farming what you want to farm, and yet you want the warrants for future characters, especially ones that do well with the Nemesis MI you want.

For what it’s worth, I have almost 500 hours of playtime, and I have yet to unlock nemesis with Kymon, Vigil, or Cronley factions on any characters! I do play on hardcore and mostly enjoy the 1-100 experience, so not to say it’s impossible, but I’ve stalled out grinding nemesis with these factions even on characters where I have intentionally tried to grind rep because the build needs one of the MIs.

Every faction doesn’t need to be like Barrowholm, but most others seem to be obtainable as a side-effect of just playing the game, running totems, farming the gear you need, etc.

Best way I found to “minmax” Cronley’s rep is to get the Bounty called: “Bruiser” Romanov and just never return it. That gives you a permanent extra hero right next to Cronley. Also, having Direni there helps obviously, but no can do if you killed him early.

But yeah, definitely needs the boost you mentioned.

Bruiser + Direni is the best way to grind Cronley rep! :+1:

This is a really good summary of what should’ve been my main point, actually. That we understand these factions are supposed to be more out of the way, or are simply more out of the way by nature, but the experience is poor compared to the other factions.

Though I will tell you that after running through normal, elite, and ult, it only took me several runs of the Tomb of Archon Bart to hit nemesis, and that is without a warrant. So that’s why I said I think it’s fine, the DV/Kymon areas I think just need more hero spawns. I was truly surprised during my runs on Ult, that the lack of heroes was obvious enough for me to notice compared to other areas of the game.

Fantastic tip, thank you. Honestly this is such a cool little hidden “mechanic”. I feel like they should double up on the heroes that spawn with the bosses and add a similar bounty to every other possible faction. Can’t believe I forgot about this. Add 2 heroes to a boss and farm more rep/loot + spice up the boss fight.

You can also farm Rutnick for Cronley rep. The item level is also higher in that area.

Lots of Arkovian Undead there as well.

Yeah Cronley needs a 200% buff to infamy gain. The others are fine. Barrowholm could use a 50% nerf, if we’re being fair.

How about a Cronley Totem?

Oh, we can all dream!

What about the bounty Cronley’s Lackeys, where you have to kill three Cronley’s Heroes?

Use the rift in the cave and go out of the cave and if you don’t find three, return via the rift and continue through the cave towards Darius … ?

fish the Pitmaster bounty
go kill, 2x bosses, 2x75? /150? infamy, another 150 for handing in the bounty, whambam thank you repeat spam gone in 60seconds(or some movie reference)

if only bounty system scaled infamy slightly better

Nah, leave Barrowholm rep gain alone. I like quickly unlocking Reaper.

Perhaps this mod can achieve this.

?

I’m suggesting a change to the base game. Not a mod to make my life easier. If I wanted to, I could just search my rep value and edit it. This thread is about the organic experience players will have.

Okay, maybe I misunderstood. Just pretend I didn’t say anything.

It would be great to add a location for the Kronli Gang in the Arkavian Docks. There are several locations with access to the ruins, and adding a Kronli dungeon similar to the Steps of Torment would be great.

They’re already there.

I’m talking about a new dungeon for the Kronli gang. Every major faction has its own dungeon. The Arcovian undead have the Steps of Torment, the Chthonian have the Bastion of Chaos, and so on. But the Kronli thugs don’t have a dungeon of their own.

Grim League has a Cronley dungeon, which is pretty neat.
