Hi! What are the benefits of paying tributes for starting at the 50th or 100th wave? Are not you denied of cheap score?
Drops do no change if you start on 1 or 50 instead of 100, i think, so it’s just a waste time to start from lesser waves unless you need to farm tributes.
I have read that one of the chests depend on the score (that’s why it exists) and you get the best chest for completing 150 waves. What are other variables influencing the number and quality of chests? In particular, does difficulty level have effect on the score/minimal reward/average reward/maximum reward?
I have managed to finish 150th wave on Challenger and 122 on Gladiator. Is it worse to stop on the wave 120 of Gladiator than completing the Crucible on Challenger?
I don’t know about qty depending of chests, you can add extra spawn for 1 more chest for sure.
Maybe it’s worth to compare the loot from wave 120 on Gladiator with loot from from wave 150 on Challenger?
Generally i would recommend doing 100-150 Challenger until you have gear to safely do 100-150 Gladiator.
The stuff above is irrelevant to the reason. The reason is because it’s been definitively proven to be the best way to farm gear (starting from a high checkpoint). And because most people would find it excruciatingly tedious to have to go from 1-170 every time.
Hah, was the max wave raised to 170? Thank you for the information.
In Ashes of Malmouth. If you just have the vanilla game I think it stays to 150. And yeah. If you look on the skills and builds section of the forum you’ll see a lot list a time in their title (i.e. 7:30, 8min+, etc.) and it’s an indicator of how fast the build can clear 150-170 which is significant for its farming efficiency.
I’ll tell you more: there is even a reason to pay as much as 25 tributes to start from wave 150. Just a single reason: time efficiency. A 100-150 run nets about 8 legendaries per 18-22 mins (depending on class / build / experience): real crap. An average 130-150 run brings you 5 legendaries per about 9-11 minutes, while an average 150-170 run brings 7 legendaries per 10-12 mins. Just do the math yourself…
How do you start on higher waves? I have no idea what i am doing. But on some of my chars i can instantly start on 150 but on other chars there is no option to change?
Starting at 100th wave is a valid way to farm crucible (100-150, then 130-150 x3). It’s far safer than farming 150-170 - can be performs by any decent build, and rewards arent much worse.
Best way is 150-160, 140-150/160, 130-150/140-150. 160 isn’t much harder than 150. And you don’t have to grind 50 waves from 100 where one set of blessings might not last till the end of all runs.
From my personal experience, 150-160 IS harder than 140-150. For some builds (especially underequipped yet) that difference can be decisive. And if you die prematurely, you lose a large amount of tributes. From my point of view, it’s much better to plow through 100-130 waves once per 4 runs, than risk dying in 150-160.
Oh, and of course you start from 100 without blessings, then you activate them on 120-130 wave (depending on your clearspeed).
The indicator is whether build can survive 150-170, in first place - cause that is NOT easy at all, even with 2-3 buffs and maybe banner. Sure, some builds might finish 150-170 once in a while, but whether thay can do it with relatively low risk of dying - another question.
Before I farmed enough end game pieces,I had strategy.Start on wave 100 unbuffed,at 110 buy 2or3 buffs and play.After I finished 150 restart on 130.Then 130-150 twice on same buffs,after that quit.
140-150 can be hard for some builds, but generally the difficulty spike is big in 150-160.Tributes are expensive,no point of doing it in my experience.
If you’re farming for gear the most important thing is clear rate.If you post a time, usually means it’s your focus. Some builds are just glass cannons and are not suitable for farming, despite their speed.
If you run 4 buffs and died or something you can at least start at 50 for cheaper and grind your tributes back.
