What are some of the easily accessible ways of improving stun resist for a solo self found character? I’m about to reach Nemesis on Aetherials for a solo self found character who is a bit short of Fort Ikon in hardcore ultimate, so the question has taken on a new level of urgency.
More generally, what are the CC effects to be most wary about, and to prepare against most carefully, for running the Vanilla campaign?
Thank you in advance for any insights provided!
The quickest and easiest ways to stack stun resistance are Leathery Hide (Helm Component) and the Throne devotion. You might also want to look at Faction gear if you’re desperate for more (Elite Devil’s Spaulders for example) - faction gear in general is very useful for patching specific stats on a character.
I don’t play hardcore myself, but do you have prior experience with each nemesis? You’ll probably want to know the skillset of each one fairly well before engaging if it’s your first self-found hardcore character. Obviously make sure you’ve got a couple circuit breakers ready to go as well. It’s worth overcapping the specific resistances you’ll need for each nemesis - Valderan (the Aetherial nemesis) will nuke your lightning resist so having it overcapped before fighting him will make things a lot smoother. He also likes to teleport you so be very careful of the environment you’re fighting in and your positioning during the fight.
Go back to Elite to learn the moveset of each Nemesis. If they give you even an ounce of trouble on Elite, it’s not worth tackling them on Ultimate with a hardcore character. If you chose to side with the necromancers, the Iron Maiden is probably the scariest Nemesis for squishy characters because she has a gap closer/stun. Human Nemeses in general can be a handful because you never know what weapon they’ll spawn with. If they spawn with a weapon that has an OA bonus and a crit damage bonus, you could be in big trouble even if you’re relatively tanky.
I would suggest seeing if you can farm for empowered stonewrought groundbreakers. I get them fairly regularly but that may not be true for you. They don’t just have high stun resist on them, they have a bunch of other useful resists as well and a nice physique stat boost.
Thank you all for some very good feedback. Searching on my own could have taken quite a bit of time, so I appreciate the offered advice.
I’ve only ever fought Valdaran (once) and I did it in hardcore ultimate. It was a very dangerous fight, it was lot of fun, and I made quite a few mistakes. But, luck went in my favor that time and in the end my SSF summoner came out on top. I have yet to even see another Nemesis boss.
I definitely need to make some adjustments when Aetherials reach Nemesis on my next character to take on hardcore ultimate because lightning resist isn’t quite at cap right now and stun resist is currently zero.
That character is a bleed caster (conjurer) with no summons, so I’m already quite overdue in getting her some stun resist.
(Empowered) Handguards of Perdition have stun reduction and a few other nice stats most builds would appreciate. Being blues you’re bound to find one eventually, might even have a pair sitting around.
Good rare to look for is thunderstruck (comes on jewelry and lots of armor slots) which gives not only stun resist but also elemental resist and some OA.
no idea if any1 mentioned the Oldenar’s Stabilizer but it’s a great belt. When I had found it on my current character, it provided me a source of stun resist all the way to 75 lvl. Mine is rolled 59% stun resist though
My thanks again to all for replies.
The difference in effectiveness and safety was so very, very clear with 42% resist and before, when that same character had none. With that extra layer of defense in place, I felt comfortable enough to reach level 85 and finish up with hardcore ultimate Loghorrean with my bleed caster.
It’s kinda strange to me that nobody a mentioned the Stormtitan treads ( http://www.grimtools.com/db/items/1161 ) , they have huge chunk of hp (flat and %, best rolled are 600 + 5%), stun resistance and nice prock that lowered enemy’s damage
