Cut scenes cause black screen

Game cutscenes black screen, how to solve?

Make sure you have the latest video drivers.

Graphics card driver updated, still not working

Farthest Frontier 2022.11.03 - 20.40.37.0100_00_19--00_00_39

Can you share your DXdiag please?

Pay attention to video drivers or your video card. Another option may be the RAM does not pull. For good, try to reinstall the system completely and clean out all the garbage from your computer

DxDiag.txt (136.9 KB)

So looking at your DXdiag, you appear to have two graphics cards in your system. I would not be surprised if the integrated card is getting prioritized, so you’ll have to make sure the dedicated one is running instead by forcing it.

Here is a tutorial for that:

Also, here’s a way that maybe you can tell your computer to only use your good video card when you run FF:

Your computer has 2 video cards. One will run the game, one will not. Here’s how you can tell Steam to only use one of the other:

Right-click on FF in Steam and click on Properties…

Force Discreet GPU 01

Put “-force-device-index 0” in Launch Options:

Force Discreet GPU 02

Now try to load your game. If that works, you should be good. If it doesn’t change that text to “-force-device-index 1”:

Force Discreet GPU 03

Now try to load your game. If that works, you should be good.

Is that so? But it didn’t work after setting it up, my laptop is a Dell G3 Pro

set it up, but it didn’t work

When I downloaded and installed this game for the first time, the cutscenes were just a carriage, and the rest were all black. The background was all black. It was a carriage running on the black screen. Uninstalled and reinstalled but still the same black screen

Hi Kmsm,

Did you try -force-device-index 0?

You might need to set your Windows Graphic Settings specifically for the game (Farthest Frontier) and maybe Steam.

If you right-click on your desktop and select “Display Settings” and then scroll down until you see the “Graphics Settings” link. Click that.

Use the Browse button to navigate to where Farthest Frontier is installed and select the Farthest Frontier executable file. (I don’t have Farthest Frontier so I don’t know what its called.)

Once it appears in the list, click it and then click Options.

Click the High Performance option - it should list the graphic card you want.

Hopefully that helps.

Good luck!
