Really enjoying the beta so far. Necromancer is a very solid class. The sets are all interesting and fun and it really is quite different from the Witch Doctor…
There aren’t any class-specific legendaries with unique powers out yet, but the sets so far are very good…
All of them are extremely different playstyles, with the Saint (melee) and Bone (summons) sets being my two favorites. Very “active” summon class playstyle.
If anybody has the beta invite, and hasn’t given it a whirl yet, I suggest you do.
Eh. I want to be excited for it. I really do. But I just… can’t bring myself to care.
Necromancers are my favourite class. I loved them in Diablo II. In the original Guild Wars. In every game I play that has them. They’re what I’m drawn to. I was sorely disappointed when Grim Dawn, an otherwise excellent game, didn’t include them as a playable class. So I went with a Conjurer and tried to build my own Necro as best as I could.
But as excited as I am for Necros, and as sure as I am that Blizzard will nail the skill effects and the ‘feel’ of being a Necromancer, I think of rifts and I feel the same way I do about my job; tired, bored and disinterested. The price they’ll charge, and the lack of new content to play, means it’s a no for me. Shame Rise of the Necromancer wasn’t an expansion…
Basically what Khenmu said Spent hundreds if not thousands of hours playing MP and eventually burned out.
Since there is a heavy focus on end-game and it seems like nothing new will be added, I don’t see much reason to go back
If it’s 5 bucks, sure, why not… might be fun for couple days… but that price will never happen x)
The skills are neat. There are some interesting mechanics there, but the items are just terrible.
At present there are only two viable weapons, and every build needs to focus on poison it seems. The few that don’t still have skeletal mages. And the pet set is the only one that I can seem to get past GR 65.
Overall, I need to see some serious balance tweaking before I can consider buying it.
On a side note: I am pretty sure the D3 necro pack and the GD expansion will both come out AFTER summer, which bums me out. I teach school, and was really hoping to get to do some serious gaming this summer when I should be planning for next year and getting ready for our impending child.
They were not my favorite class, but yeah… the rifts. Never liked it too much, uncharming and a poor attempt to arpg-e-sport or something. Activision and their emo-orks. Whenever I see that Im asking myself: Where is the grim of the old diablo, the flair that brought me to this game. Decent quality though, the multiplayer is a lot better than in grim dawn. Technically.
What will Diablo4 be, a game most played by 6 year old korean girls? I wouldnt wonder. Im not looking forward to D4.
Don’t worry I’m sure they’ll just pull a World of Warcraft and have some sort of time thing that brings back all the Diablo 1 and 2 that we love - and still mess it up in the end.
the corpse graphic is horrible. doesn’t fit the rest of diablo 3’s art style. if it wasn’t for that graphic i would likely buy the dlc when it came out. it is so immersion breaking that i really don’t see me purchasing it.
i have been liking the skills and play style though. it has been interesting. likely they will even change the graphic for the hostile mob corpses. i can’t see it being anything other then a place holder. not buying until i am certain it is changed though.
No doubt, all games of Blizzard South have the same water paint children art style. Condor made Diablo1, the same guys made Diablo2 while the World of Warcraft makers will most likely create the same shit all over again.
It is because these devs like this certain type of artstyle and I dont want to refer only to the artstyle which does not fit the one of the original, true diablo at all. Bound on pickup, the whole loot system, all power comes from the weapon, arcade game style… Its a different game from different people. There is no hope from me at all these guys will create a game with the spirit of Diablo and DII. No longer from gamers for gamers. you will more likely play the next so called “Diablo” on your iphone and your Texas Instruments calculator because they could sell a few million more copies
Also, if there ever will be a D4 it likely will be multiplayer only with tons of microtransactions for just about everything. I’ve long given up expecting any new good games to be made by Blizzard.
I have not played D3 in over a year so things could have changed. (Should be around 2 years now… Hospitalized 2 years ago and my pc fried from a powersurge while I was in the hospital. Never bothered to reinstall d3 after replacing most of the pc to get it working again.)
I really disliked having to log in to the game to play at all.
It’s the same as the stupid ‘sim city’ online play only crap.
When I buy a game I would like to be able to play it without having to be connected online all the time. The way D3 was made sort of bothered me.
This is one of the reasons I sort of dislike using steam for my games but in the end I tend to buy games through steam anyways. Always helps when games get released on gog also (I got duplicates of several games on both steam and gog.)
I would rather them just make diablo2 shinier. (Just upgrade the engine to allow more things and keep the way it looks its still one of my most favorite games. Spent so much time playing it and diablo 3 just sort of never really played the same since it seems more like a game you would just shove onto a console. It’s a great game and all but its not the same as diablo2.)
The D2 remake on the SC2 engine, I played that a bit, really not great, especially the choice of engine. I have since stopped playing that, but yeah the choice of engine was a huge mistake.
Going a bit off topic just to say I understand there’s alot of hate for D3, However in my case it was mostly positive. In the early days with the AH me and a real life friend made a good amount of money off of it.
I mean yeah… breaking jars and act 1 inferno farming got kinda old but hey… Lets face it…Bees in act 2 wasted everyone and wasn’t really worth it to do acts 3 and 4 because awful balancing.
But now the AH is gone and in the west the game has no other ways of bring in the cash. I am kinda hoping that the necromancer package will show the game has some kick left. I mean there is so much story, content items and classes they could add. I am going to try and stay hopeful but if not i always got grim dawn
-Story is almost non existent, whatever exists is so badly told that you try to skip it faster than a Japanese Visual Novel
-Necromancer, they pretty much wanted to show they were better than the predecessors and thought Witch Doctor could replace the D2 Necro and look at them now.
-Content, the game’s vanilla version had lesser content and worse mechanics than its predecessor
-I am sure this game would’ve been fine had it been called something besides Diablo III.
It’s probably a decent Hack N’ Slash Iso but it is far from being even a half decent Diablo Game.
Think of it this way, the new Prey is a good game but it is very different from a Prey game. I mean no one wants a copypasta of the original game, no one wants a Diablo II clone but rather a true successor. If clone is what players would have wanted then people would’ve been calling Torchlight instead of Grim Dawn as the spiritual successor to Diablo II
Oh and I can understand what you’re saying, you’re one of the many/few who profited from the AH. So it’s fine if you feel the loss of it
