Damaging ground effects

In a couple of areas, there appear to be ground effects (e.g. stuff that looks like green poison in Hargate’s Lab, or harmful Aether patches in Deadman’s Gulch) that are incredibly harmful to my character, and I would like to know if they can be mitigated in any way. After dying unexpectedly in Hargate’s Lab, I returned with capped poison and acid resistances, but that didn’t seem to help. Maybe it’s just my subjective impression, however, or maybe I need different resistances. I didn’t get further than a few meters east in Deadman’s Gulch before retreating quickly, but I would like to know if would make sense to invest massively in a type of resistance (I would have guessed aether) to try to explore there.
Thanks much

You’ll need to explore the east part of Deadman’s Gulch with a quest given by the Black Legion, later on. There’s a little place roughly half way to help you recover, also.

But to answer you, no, there’s no point in building resist for ground effects. The only thing that can mitigate those damages is absorption.

  • movement speed

i always pop a cluster for good measure. i lost 2 HCs in that areas near valbury after i tried running in but got body blocked, on a toon that didn’t have dmg absorp option. taught me a valuable lesson.
