Darrion, Alice and Katrine - lore

So, if you do the Port Valbury dungeon and talk to Katrine, you can then find a note on her dead body in the Fleshworks, where she is essentially saying goodbye.

In the Conclave, you can talk to Darrion about the events. If you’ve done the above, you can correctly tell him that the person he’s talking about is most likely Alice.

But when he asks what of her mother, your only option is to say that you don’t really know. Despite looting her corpse and taking the note essentially confirming she is dead.

It was always bugging me somewhat that this event is not reflected in the dialogue. Any hope of eventually addressing that?

I also rather fascinated by this storyline.

“There’s no hope of that” seems like a delicate way of saying she’s dead. Do you know if that option is available if you haven’t discovered Katrine’s body?

Can’t quite remember to be honest. I pretty much always play in order of base game-Malmouth-FG, so not even sure I’ve seen that scenario.

But that option doesn’t really strike me as telling him she’s dead. More that it’s impossible to get to Malmouth from wherever the Conclave is.

I will try it on my current playthrough.

Confirmed that the “There’s no hope” option appears even if you haven’t found Katrine’s body.

It probably appears in all cases where you have spoken to her in PV. Now that I think of it, the player is pessimistic about her chances then and tells her she won’t survive, and this reply to Darrion is just repeating that.

I wonder if we will get some further development of this storyline in FoA or if it will come in GD2. It does seem as though Alice is being built up as a potential NPC in a sequel. Is she going to be GD2’s equivalent of John Bourbon?
