I’ve actually PM’d sig a couple of times. I’m very tempted to starting learning how to theorycraft pet builds. But it’s quite intimidating.
That Ghol set really caught my eye though.

Thanks for the answer. Did clear 25 today, too. Was exactly like you said, the difficulty is about the same (except I didn’t get a lucky Alex lol), got some nasty packs on bad maps but nothing too scary. I got basically no clue about the meta since I rarely drop by at the forums, I’m just playing my own builds as I always have. Good luck!
Yes, become one of us! In all seriousness we need more pet builds and more pet builders!
I tried making a conjurer with the Ghol’s set before giving up half way through. Ritualists make me have to pay attention to what is going on, so I gave up on that too…
Sometimes the arena just gets small enough that they immediately rush onto you before you even started backing off.
So I entered the magma/lava thing you were talking about.
I feel like you trigger everyone simply because you’re forced to kite forward…or at least that’s been my experience on the several occasions I’ve been on lava-funland.
Honestly, at higher shards, this is the only arena I’ll use an aether cluster on. I’ve found that you’ll typically only aggro 2 nems at the start. Cluster up, tank-&-spank like your life depends on it because it probably does, and try to take one out.
Or at least deal enough damage so that one/both become(s) ez to kill when you’re forced to kite.
Aether cluster is for pussies. Anyway I’ll see if I can get that arena again when I test vanquisher Templar later. It would be fun trying to dash around the arena in circles.
I do like cats
https://youtu.be/mkE9xP1NGlg - Probably the most fun I had on GD as of this moment. Arena is still shit but build is really fun.
That looks super fun! You are using the MI offhand, right?
On a serious note tho:
I feel like “cheat death” passives are going to be the new meta for consistently farming SR. Why? Because if you stack a few of them and chain them right, you can effectively burst one boss. Then you can die and repeat. I currently only have one of those on my build but this all in bursting concept is the only way I can tackle some of the hardest boss combinations.
So zerging with glass canons might be a more reliable way to farm than playing a well rounded build. Thoughts on this?
1H are for pussies - https://www.grimtools.com/calc/q2MzKRzV
Yeah. I’ve got 0.6 seconds cooldown on vire’s might. If you get max range dash then the cd ends right after you finish dashing. You basically don’t walk.
@cheat death passives - sadly, the only class that could efficiently do that (binder) has been nerfed to death, that part of binder at least. Sorc is a close one but some attacks just go through maxed blast shield. If we can still discover some then it’s guaranteed to be meta as long as there’s enough damage.
I wanted burns. Doing it like that is more direct damage but also means you don’t kite as efficiently. Yeah it’s kinda a pussy excuse but I like cats too
Have you considered Brimstone?
Mark of Divinity, life saving passives like Demonslaysers Defense, Resilience and obviously ghoul come to mind too. I will try to figure something out. Maybe suicide bomber builds will become my new hobby lol.
Generally speaking, MoD is too unreliable unless you’re confident that you can deal sufficient damage within those 3s of immortality to change the tide of the battle
I saw OK now has bleed RR,with kiting DoT casters being strong, how is this going to look?I have not play with bleed so wonder how good are there going to be?
2h versions don’t provide as much cdr
You can’t put them all on one build effectively. And as spank said some of them are unreliable, but if you do figure out something then great
Bleeding Archon is imo possible, have to see how Bleeding EoR functions energy-wise. Won´t even need Guardians.
When I have finished polishing my Trickster, I will start with this (playing whole campaign on Ultimate): https://www.grimtools.com/calc/62aKyM3Z
Edit:
For Bleeding Caster (thinking about that, too), there are 2 nice shields:
a) https://www.grimtools.com/db/items/12725
b) https://www.grimtools.com/db/items/12707 (for Bleeding Trickster)
So how would bleed based EoR work? It’s not as though you can stack multiple sources of bleeds no?
Same as bleed savagery. You really just reapply the dots so fast that you get that lucky roll crit very often that it’s always up. Then that flat phys/whatever little direct damage you have takes care of the lifesteal. Bleed builds have very high adcth values that even if it’s only a bit of physical you will still heal a good amount.
This.
Really have to try it because Archon has no WPS for Bleeding like Trickster.
But with this 2 Axes 127 RR. ;)…(so Guardians are not needed).
Edit:
As for stacking DoTs: http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=51898
I’ve finished FG with one of my characters and tried out SR.
Some thoughts.
First, I find SR even more tedious, boring and time-consuming than the Crucible. Try to beat shard 75? That’s like 300 Crucible waves and even longer assuming you don’t need to run here and there in Crucible looking for monsters and don’t need to run to the portal in order to reach next level. In SR, not only you slay and slay and slay monsters, you must run over quite large shards.
For example. Let’s assume, you need 5 sec on average to reach the portal after defeating all of the foes. Going through shard 1 to 75: each shard contains 4 chunks, let’s not count the 4th chunk, 'cause it’s small and contains no portal. 75*3 = 225 runs to portals, 5 sec each = 1125 sec or approx. 19 min. While grinding, you need to spend 19 min only to run here and there!
Second, comparing SR and Crucible. The former is just optional game mode. There is nothing in the Crucible what you cannot achieve in the Campaign. You might even not purchase this addon. But SR became a core game mode in the Campaign. You MUST go through the first 25 shards in order to get all attribute and skill points. You ARE to farm SR in order to get unique gear and blueprints.
Frankily speaking, I made myself to lead my character through shards 1-25 to get those skill points. I don’t want to discuss the difficulty of this mode (yes, SR is hard, unpredictable, unforgiving and for a large extent random, but it’s supposed to be so, right?). But it is too damn long, tedious and boring.
(Also, I think that 170 waves in Crucible is a bit too much. I would rather see classical 150 waves with overall difficulty tuned up, where waves 130-150 are like today’s 150-170; this would be a bit less time-consuming to farm Cruci, you’ll spend a bit less chunk of your real time to achieve certain goals in the game).
What I’m speakng about. Yes, the gameplay in GD is built around grinding. You kill and slay and destroy mobs. But. You can do this in different ways. If you have an hour or two of free time to spare, you can perform a Crucible run. Or you can farm here or there in the campaign. Four rogue dungeons are at your disposal. You can farm ugdenblooms or chthonic seals, or go and kill certain bosses like Kilrian or Malmouth trio. And so on. That’s what I like in GD. If you are bored with your gameplay, try something different.
But now SR becomes the core not only for build-making, but also for farming and grinding. So, why not to make it a bit more, eer, user-friendly? Why are there FOUR chunks per shard? Why not to make 3 shards or even 2? If now you cannot complete your character without passing through 25 shards, why not to tune down their difficulty a bit (and tune up difficulty of higher shards instead)?
If SR is such mandatory, please, make it less boring and time-consuming. That’s for those people who cannot turn the game into a second full-time job.
P.S. Overall, regarding FG - great job, Crate! Thanks for the addon.
