Unfortunately there is no special color in his name tag, so you just have to keep an eye out and do not accidentally kill him. Builds with lots of pets and massive AoE proc have high chances of accidentally gutting him though.
But once you found him, or he found you, he will follow you all over the map. Seemingly with little to no range limit. This makes things a little easier.
I have got all the pieces of the reward from this quest and tried leveling a new char with the set.
Gotta say it was a rather interesting exp. The initial 20 levels went by real fast but you will be forced to changed them out soon after. The armor ratings are just way too low…
Malmouth outskirt. I found him in some houses not too far from the rift gate to the east. Though I am sure he has quite a few spawn points
I kept wearing the armor till lvl 55-60
How did you do that? I felt like almost every mob will tear right through me above level 20… Looking at other epic armor pieces in that level will already give you roughly 100 armor.
Btw it’s been bugging me, does the exp bonus apply to quest as well? Or just to your kill?
I find it incredibly frustrating that certain people in this thread are so evasive to assisting others who actually want to try this content out, not to mentioned you can’t even complete the damn quest chain because of a bug. Heads up, a key part of the quest is completely bugged if you happened to find a specific item in an earlier difficulty mode. Estimated time to correct the bug: who knows???
You can however join someone else’s game in ultimate who is not affected by the bug and circumvent it. Solo players, so sorry, so sad.
The bug has been reported so not much we can do about it in this thread. As for when it’s fixed, as soon as the devs can track down the problem and correct it. Zantai said that they hope to put out v1.0.3.0 in the near future so with any luck the fix will be in that.
I wouldn’t say evasive, but also not giving too much away while people work it out for themselves. And if you plough through the thread’s content iirc all of the steps are listed, just not necessarily in the right order.
This content is meant to be secret and part of the fun is to try and find the solution yourself.
Every possible aspect of the quest has already been discussed in detail somewhere in this thread. So despite us not giving a full-blown guide (yet), all the information is already there.
I think a lot of people here feel that the xpac is still really new. Therefore it does not feel right to completely spoil the surprise. After all it’s called a secret quest
The information that you need is included in this thread, though kinda fragmented. If you want the info to be presented to you in orderly manner like a step-by-step guide, I would suggest you to keep on waiting for now. Someone will soon publish a full guide after sometimes.
All I can tell you this, to avoid the bug, just avoid doing the quest, namely Nane’s Stash, til Ultimate. Level up new char or play with friends if you will, but for now there is no other way.
Is Nane’s Stash always bugged? I took my high level AAR Sorc back into normal to see the new content and completed everything there was to complete, then skipped Elite and went into Ultimate and I was able to complete Nane’s Stash again.
I know a lot of people have said it’s bugged and even Zantai confirmed the note doesn’t carry the quest item flag, but I’m wondering if this bug is 100% or if something else happened with my game.
For me, he spawned out of the ground from an Aether Crystal, but I combed the area at least 20 times before I finally found him. I guess my AoE poison was killing him long before I ever noticed him. He just happened to catch my eye because I saw two green skeletons and a blue one climbing out of the ground and decided to hold off nuking it and sure enough, it was him. As many people have said, if you have a pet build or large AoE attacks, your chances of accidentally killing him (he’s pretty weak) is really high.
As for the steps, if you go back and read the entire thread (kinda long but worth it if you’re stuck like I was), every bit of information is there.
For that location question about Flameon Blue (the blue zombie)
What I did is run to one exact place couple of time until I saw him. Took 5 times to find him 3 times (two chars and killed him once)
You start from Malmouth Outskirt rift and go straight down. Pass a bit of Aetherfire with a Sentinel in it and when you reach the bottom part you take a quick right there will be a small wooden bridge with an aether crystal in front of you. He spawn close to the bridge (a bit below it) and won’t spawn till you finish crossing the bridge (so you can smack that aether crystal from afar if you want/need). The run back to where you need to bring him is pretty fast also.
Love spending 5h pursuing a scavenger hunt quest only to find out that the secret boss is completly undoable with the build that I used to clear the entire fucking game including elite ravager and mog with, because the amazing mechanics do not require skill, movement or dodgeing but rather a specific nuke build.
That’s really were you see how lovingly crate designed the game, turning every boss fight into a delicate dance that tests players reflexes, aim and … wait hold on that is leap of fate, a h&s game with actually decent combat. Crate’s idea of a hard boss seems to be just adding another 0 to every stat and giving them a stun, aoe and/or a shitton of summons to make 100% sure they eliminate every bit of counterplay except overgearing/counterbuilding.
Seriously, I love Grim Dawn and have like 600 hours in this game but the combat is even worse garbage than in the fuckfest that is path of exile.
