So I chose The Order of Death’s Vigil in Homestead in ultimate (as I did in normal and elite) but this time the quest to talk to Varuuk in the headquarter doesn’t appear. My questlog says, that the Allies Among the Ashes quest is done but the Seeking the Order quest doesn’t start. I can talk to Varuuk but nothing happens. Do I miss something? I’m already revered by the DV but the questline should start nevertheless, right? Can I fix that? I did a backup of the save folder but it was unfortunately after choosing DV.
did you try to go back to homestead and talk with the representatives at the stairs or well?
sometimes what happens is players click through it quickly and doesn’t actually accept the followup quest, but still walks on, leaving it there for them to pickup when they return back to homestead
I checked it and after I read your reply, I checked it again but they are not there and, as I mentioned, the Allied Among the Ashes quest is done. It’s not a big deal since I’m already revered and still got access to their headquarter but the questline should work, right?
like i said, it’s technically a separate quest/followup quest that has to be manually accepted, hence why it can/could be missed/it doesnt’ just auto happen when you complete Allied
But if the quest isn’t there at the NPC next to well in Homestead it might mean it/progress wasnt’ saved, like if crashing or AltF4 exiting quick after accepting quest (or was done in MP where it can bork)
What you can do is zip up your save/char folder and post it and it’s possible Zantai might fix the quest hitchup
I think I accepted it but I did that questline so many times that my memory might be wrong.
It didn’t crash, that much I know and I always exit the game by the menu. I never faced such a problem before.
Thank you very much for your help and for your offer but as long as it saved my reputation and my access to the DV’s trader I’m fine with it. I don’t want to strain you or Zantai with unnecessary work.
Do you think, that the questline will work on my next build or is my whole savefile damaged in any way, now that this bug/save-problem did appear once?
i can’t imagine it should be anything baked in to your game, char saves are separate, so as long as you dont’ “do” what caused it like the 3 examples again it shouldn’t happen/this isn’t the norm.
You can verify game files to ensure nothing game related is abnormal
*i’m ofc default assuming you’re not running out of date mods or such that could potentially interfere with base game files
Anecdotally i can say i’ve never experienced it myself, and only seen it referenced in the previous mentioned scenarios.
Sorry if my question is stupid but how can I verify the game files? I mean how do I do that?
I don’t use mods or such.
right click grim dawn in steam library, select properties, installed files, verify integrity game files
if you’re on GoG it requries galaxy but similar, select game/grim dawn, hit the
button, manage installation, verify/repair
Thank you for your answer and the screenshot but I’m on GOG and I don’t use galaxy. But when the next patch of GD is released I will do a full re-install of the whole game to make shure, that everything is alright with the game files.
I’ve had a quest shit the bed in the past as well, incidentally also in Homestead, where I had the quest to go kill the Dermapterran queen, did it, left the nest, went to get the Amalgamation and literally saw the quest log update backwards from “Go to speak to Douglass” to “kill the Dermapterran queen”. I had to relaunch the game and kill Ravna again (cause in the session I was in she was dead, I went back to check that she didn’t respawn or something.). Haven’t had a case where the quest just straight up stayed stuck after a restart, but it might be a similar scenario to what you’re experiencing. Never found out what caused it, did a file verification but if anything was broken, steam didn’t say.
