Deep Mines - Need a rebalance please!

I have several deep mines. They all are not producing anywhere near what I think is reasonable vs. their required resources.

For example:

16 gold ore in one year? That’s a joke. Come on devs. Please make this more realistic. Each person wokring this mine (16 villagers), each only extracted 1 nugget of ore?

Could you be having pathing issues? People having to walk to far to get to work or spending too much time stocking their shelters? I ask because my gold mines are producing about 30 Au per year. Constantly cycling between mining and laborer will also hurt your productivity because the same person who was a miner will suddenly walk away and you get somebody from the other side of the map potentially assigned to be your miner again, having to get tools first and all. Also, having tools available (not just the heavy tools) may help with this as well. This resource is always running out quickly when I buy it from the trade center so you might want to ramp up iron production even more.

I see Temporary Shelters nearby. Any other factors helping/hurting the workers getting to/from the site, seeking shelter, and/or getting food and water (Temporary Shelters need wells, Waggoneers only bring food and firewood)?

Every one of my deep mines be it for gold, sand, iron, coal - all seem to produce very little compared to the resources they drain. They are all throughout my map with no pathing issues. I have small “sub-villages” with markers, houses (mainly Mansions), entertainment, etc. close by these mines as well as Temp Shelters as noted. I am not cycling my workers. My population is approx 3500 and I have 575 builders and larborers. The deep mines always seem to produce less but infinitely, hoewver like I mentioned 16 Au in 1 year for 16 workers is ridiculous. I have 13 deep gold mines and I am barely producing ~200-250 Au annually with 208 workers. That’s just nowhere near real life.

To add insult to injury - repairs for just one of my deep gold mines requires 88 gold ingets:

I have but two deep gold mines currently showing 31 and 27 per year (the later was added recently though). near it, I have the smelter, 6 temporary shelters and a fort for defense. There are pear trees put in the yard for free picking without an arborist building. The path going to the mines and down the middle of this area is all cobbled stone. There is 1 forager shack and a basic well as well.

Also keep in mind that it takes only 5 Au ore to make 100 Au ingot.

Could the difference be the type of map I am playing on?

Not sure. After an hour or two of play my annual “harvest” is now closer to 30 per deep mine. It seems that resources take turns getting skinny so to speak. I still think it’s not balanced properly based on the numvber of workers it requires.

I just attributed it to a long distance trip going down into the mines or something. They’re not protected from the cold down there though so maybe they’re not really that deep.

Can a Dev please chime in with some advice!

I am now getting as low as 6 per yea for Deep Gold Mines:

Any chance the fact that you have multiple Deep Mines on the same node has anything to do with it?

Not likely. I had the same production with a single mine as I did when I put a second one on the same node. You can do this with standard mines too. The only difference is those nodes aren’t infinite so they drain faster. Clay, Sand and Stone are a little harder to do this on because they don’t use ore circles.

Yeah, I can confirm that having multiple mines on a vein doesn’t impact individual deep mine results. I started putting multiples after reading a reddit thread suggesting it to increase production. It’s the only way they seem to produce anything. My biggest issue that all my Deep Mines need reapirs at the same time always and are always the slowest thing to be repaired, and are often even abandoned. No issues with resources to repair them. It’s just like the game has nothing else to mess with me and just has to throw an advertsity at me that I can do nothing to fix, it’s all the AI (especialyl when marked for immediate repairs which never does sh*t for my Deep Mines for some reason).

All that is, from my experience, a waste.
I get similar returns with just shelter and water close by, all processing is done in the main town area and payloads are transported via wagons.

It’s important to have enough grocers to stack these worker house, else they will leave to stock them. Ensure market coverage isn’t over-populated with house where the grocers can’t keep up
