DEEz things

So after the patch hit I decided to test Dreeg’s set since its the one I worked on a lot some years ago:

GrimTools

Overall build feels fine, solo target is respectable (partly due to very high %poison), aoe never really was an issue. Having Blood Burst as a normal node really helps with sustain, which always was the issue.

However, small things could be fixed:

  1. Acid resistance on amulet - for that sweet sweet 150% overcap I guess. Mono cuckultist set shouldnt give you that res. Would be really nice if it was swapped to bleeding, since set provides exactly 0 and then its one resistance acid builds always struggle with.
  2. 100% disrupt resistance on helmet’s proc - again, why would you need it when possession gives 100% already. And no, with how low armour and health on this thing is you’re never picking PoTT (and you dont really need cdr, being spam caster and both of your strongest buffs coming from items). I think to preserve proc’s theme it could be changed to 100% energy leech res. Nothing massive, but slightly better. And once FoA hits it could get +20% max energe leech res. And 20% cs will become 20% max cs ofc
  3. For some reason the set gives +9 to Vile Eruption on top +2 to occ. Too much given that both BB and TG only get +3. Also doesnt help that for some reason ALL DEE items have bonuses to that node (in this build i have +21 to it). Could be changed into +3 to either BoD or its node, hefty thematic.

Given the recent thread about 2H weapons and PRM/DEE I finally get why each time I tried 2H DEE it felt fucking horrible. And unlike PRM’s case there’re items that support that:

I think it would be reasonabel to either replace + to VE (again, of all things) with something else or if one wants to insist on keeping this a DEE item replace it with +4 to BB/TG and add a big fat flat mod on top.
Or we can make into an amazing item that changes DEE to orbit around the player. How cool would be that? A 2H weapon thats not just a stat-stick? In my game?
Either way, this one needs some polish and needs it badly. Proc is terrible btw.

See this item? Its both horrible and boring. Horribly boring. Perhaps even boringly horrible. And most likely all of the aforementioned. You wouldnt single it out of other 25 1H DEE weapons.
However.
I just might have the solution, even salvation, for this one.
Heed my words:
Physical Orbiting Dreeg’s Evil Eye Witchblade. Picture this. In all of its glory. Theres nothing cooler than that. Its a different level of cool. One we’ve never dared to even dream of. Its crystal clear how impossibly cool that is. I don’t need to explain why. We all know it.

This is a standard bonus paired with +% max res. It’s not budgeted separately.

Any dreams of changing projectile behavior on DEE are dead on arrival because they would conflict with FX swaps on other damage types. It’s fine if modders want to take that approach, but it makes for a janky interaction between modifiers that we’re not going to introduce.

In a world where visuals and projectile behavior are independent of each other, sure, but the Grim Dawn engine does not exist in that universe.
