deleted cloud saves

I followed forum instructions on getting my local saves upped to cloud (“fiorst delete cloud saves in network dialogue and then it will ask you if you would like to upload your local saves”).

deleted cloud saves. however, does not ask me to upload locals (in game network dialogue).

so, the game is now plain vanilla and fresh as a daisy.

any ideas on how to either:

 1. return the cloud saves
 2. upload one L100 character which I happen to have as a saved folder on my HD

Please post screenshots of what you have in these locations on your PC (adjust the paths as required):

 • C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdatafolder of numbers\219990\remote\save\main
 • C:\Users\username\Documents\my games\Grim Dawn\save\main

Also post a screenshot of your General options tab in GD. If you crop screenshots to 1024x1024 with e.g. mspaint, then you can attach them to your reply with the paperclip icon in the editor menu.

Do you have cloud saving enabled in both the steam setting for GD and in the GD settings as well ??

As looking at your folders the saved chars are in the correct place for cloud saves, but if you’re set for local saves then these chars will not show up.

And if you have activated Cloud Saving, then you might need to turn it off, restart GD and turn it on again.

I turned of steam could saving.
I restarted GD => no old games are visible.
I turned on steam cloud saving.

but hey, I’m gonna call it quits at this point. 852 hours is enough.

thanks for all the help. uninstalling GD now.

Or before you do…just move the saves to your local save folder and that should work.

How to - Move your saves from Steam cloud to Grim Dawn’s default location.

sorry to necro but I’m unable to make my own new threads. I had a similar issue with using cloud saves, I was playing from home on my PC and got to lvl 39, but I logged in from my work laptop today and I had regressed back to lvl 35. Is there any way to guarantee this doesn’t happen again in the future, other than manually syncing saves by using local directories only?

Welcome to the forum. :slightly_smiling_face:

Sadly, no. Local saves are best. And back them up as well on some kind of external drive like a USB, etc.

Gotcha. So it’s just a crapshoot anytime you rely on the ol’ cloud saves, how unfortunate :frowning:

I think I can set up google drive to keep track of my saves semi-reliably, curious if anyone has tips on how they do it between two or more computers

Well, I don’t use google drive for saves, but I just copy them on to a USB key and then can paste them back in again if necessary. Never had to, but they’re there just in case. Can do the same between two computers if you need to.
