So last night i finally decided (with the recommendation of MeatheadMikhail) to pick this game up and give it a shot. First off i had no idea just how badass this game really is. Everyone’s hype for the game does not do it justice.

That said the only question i have so far is im only allowed to play the steam version right now i guess but once the game fully releases ill be able to make an account straight from this website right? Like POE has a steam version and then it stand alone client.?. ive always preferred to play the standalone client in POE and also keep the version i have on steam for trade, extra storage, people to try out, ect. So i would like to be able to do the same with this game… Its also nice to have 2 clients like that so i have one that when i tell people about the game they can try it out without being on my main account. So i was just wondering if after buying it last night from this site ill be able to make a standalone client once its available or will i have to buy it again? (Which wouldn’t be an issue either if thats the case since i like the game) I also would like to know what kinda cash shop or options are in the works if any for this game like micotrasactions and things of that nature.

Ive played D3 since the day it was released (on and off ofcourse) as well as Path of Exile since Jan 2013 and ive always been able to enjoy both games for what they are and what they have to offer. Ofcourse both games have their issues like any game but to me both can be enjoyed in their own ways.
D3 however in probably the past year has lost alot of my attention even with the content still added every few months. POE however has kept me pretty locked in for a long time now because of its customization as well as it plays pretty damn good too. The story is quite awesome as well.

That said its kinda obvious i come from a fairly solid ARPG background having also atleast played for some amount of time about any other ARPG you could think of. Now this game… it really feels fresh while going back to the roots of what a good ARPG should be… whats always made them great. The skill tree is very nice. Its not too much like POE but not so simplistic it will become stale and boring within a few days/week.

Well i just thought i would come introduce myself and give a little early feedback on my first impression so far. Ill probably try to give more diverse feedback once ive gone through the entire game and got to know the builds and such a little better. But untill then… Stay Brutal!

Im also thinking about Streaming this game too since i have not seen alot of streams on Twitch with this game but it certainly deserves the attention.

                                                                       \m/:mad:\m/

I find reading your post very difficult with the font/font size you chose.

Hi Demonlord, welcome to the Forums, and thanks for changing the font/font size.

In answer to your question, the only way you can get the DRM-Free, aka stand alone, version of the game is if you bought the game via the Grim Dawn web site. If you bought the game from Steam or from the Humble Store, then you wont get the DRM-Free version.

Aloah and welcome to the forums, your evil Highness!
staying brutal - i like that.

Well i bought the game from this site but it did direct me to the humble store for my key to use on steam. O well… Once the full game comes out ill just get the stand alone. Besides right now im still learning the game and all the different things i can do with the tree anyway so by the time the standalone is ready i can start on that fresh with a solid understanding of the game.

Oh and i just found the Build Calculator for the trees… i think thats gonna help me alot in understanding all the skills and in making solid builds.

Well if you bought the game via the Buy Now! button, the Humble Store processes the payments and give you a Steam key to play the game now. Again, if you bought it from the web site, you should also have two keys - one for Steam, and another one to be used for the Steam-free/DRM-Free version of the game.

Yeap i have 2 keys after i went back to look at the E-mail i got. One for Steam and then down below that theres a second key for the DRM-free! Awesome.
Thanks \m/
