Today seems my to be my day of enlightenment, as not only did find out how skill bonuses are displayed, but as well that blast shield doesnt work like turtle proc and absorbs x damage in total but for each and every hit.
I think there should be something along the lines of: “note: damage absorption is applied every time you are hit” or “of all incoming damage of every hit” as a way to clarifiy the existing wording.
It changes the skill from being perceived of one of the most useless to the most useful, and i finally understand why it gets so much praise. To understand this i did some digging in the forums, and it seems that the question comes up more or less frequently.
A combination of military gear and pyromancy creates a ward capable of deflecting a fixed amount of all incoming damage while reducing pierce and Fire Damage. Attacking enemies will suffer the fiery blowback from the shield.
No, it doesn’t. It says with will deflect a fixed amount of ALL incoming damage. Stuff like Turtle Shell aren’t fixed amounts, it acts a shield that gets drained until it depletes.
The real reason it’s strong though is the flat reduction gets applied per element basis. Since almost all attacks and spells are split into two elements, that’s x2 damage reduced per attack. Add conversion on top, and you are basically invulnerable for its duration, at least in regards to background damage.
This doesn’t seem correct, is there any way to confirm this? It will help me to evaluate other things like Inquisitor Seal and Phoenix Fire as well, so I’m quite curious.
