Desirability changes for no obvious reason

I’ve had repeated situations where houses have upgraded with a few % to spare and then a season or so later they abandon.

I have checked that nothing has been demolished and nothing unpleasant has been built nearby but there’s no obvious reason.

My only thought is that there’s a mechanic to reduce desirability over time. If so it would be nice to have it spelled out. Alternatively does a well reduce attractiveness over time?

There is no Desirability decay mechanic. Something must have changed in proximity to those homes.
