Dev rejected offers from 12 major publishers.

Dev got told “you can’t make it without us” and wanted up to 80% cut & IP.

DARQ is one of the top 10 most voted Greenlight game and will be releasing on Steam.

Good for the developer(s). Major Publishers can bring about a lot of problems in a game’s development with their expectations that can impact those who are creating the game at work and home.

With the popularity of non-hardcopy game purchasing, like Steam, what would be the advantage of a small, indie developer going to a large publisher? If you weren’t short of funding to finish your project in the first place, that is.

All I can think of is advertising, but would that be worth the equity you’d have to forfeit?

It seems it may have just been an advertisement scheme to post on a sub with thousands of users and pay shills to give gold, silver, and the works. Something about having his post removed at an earlier time due to blatant advertising, and now just rewording it to be acceptable but still coming off as blatant advertising. Regardless, if it’s like Limbo or Inside, I’ll check it out.
